    BZ Tournament Sign Ups

Alright so here's the deal. I was thinking we could run a tournament to determine the ultimate Super Bowl Champion. Just something fun for us all to do during the boring part of the offseason. I will organize and do up the brackets, all you guys have to do is try and predict the winners and have fun. Since I do not use my Zone Bucks, the winner will recieve 5,000 ZB's from me, unless I can swindle the mods into donating (possibly more) to the winner. If we can get mods to donate, there will be a prize for 2nd place as well and possibly the final four contestants.

The 64 team bracket would comprise of all 40 SB winners, and the 24 top losers based on Reg Season W/L records (we all know some teams that lost could certainly beat some teams that won). Here are some details.

-Teams will be seeded based on regular season W/L and Super Bowl performance.

-The tournament will run like the NCAA tournament, but with a catch. Both teams will play each other, the winner will advance to the next round. However, each round will pit the two teams playing each other in a best of 7 series. IE: if '72 Miami is paired against '86 New York in round 1, those teams play each other in a best of 7 series until one team wins 4 games. The winner of the series would advance to the next round.

-Each round/series would be played out by an neutral simulation program, which will remain annonymous until all participants have handed in their brackets (to prevent possible cheating or premature simulating to gain an advantage). The team with the higher seeding will recieve home field advantage for the series and accurate rosters for each team will be used to ensure fairness. The simulator I have in mind is pretty fair and accurate, but by using the 7-game series method for each round, it should give us a better idea of which teams would actually win if those two teams were to play in real life under real-life circumstance (home field advantage, rain, snow, etc). Game by game box scores and results will be provided.

-No team that lost will be seeded higher than a team that won. IE: Though '01 STL finished 14-2, they cannot be seeded higher than '05 Pittsburgh which finished 11-5 because they did not win the actual Super Bowl.

-Participants do not have to predict the outcome of the series, just the outcome of the round. IE: you do not have to predict that the '68 Jets beat the '91 Redskins 4 games to 2. You simply have to predict which team will win the round. Again, the 7-game series is just a guage to better predict which team would actually win if those two teams were to play in reality.

    Scoring:
Round 1: 1 point for each winner correctly predicted
Round 2: 2 points for each winner correctly predicted
Round 3: 4 points for each winner correctly predicted
Round 4: 6 points for each winner correctly predicted
Final Four: 8 points for each winner correctly predicted
Championship: 10 points for winner correctly predicted

We can sim this over the course of a week, or do it all in one day. If you would like to participate, post a reply with your email or send me a PM. I will do up the brackets tonight while at work, or tomorrow since I have the day off.

The brackets will be drawn up using Excel. All you will have to do is fill out who you think will win, sign your name, and send it back my way.

And since I am running the sim, I will not be participating.

Those who want in... please PM me your email so I can send you the brackets as an Excel Attachment... they are ready.

We will probably wait a couple days until we get a good number of people.

                          cool!

this should be fun as hell if we get a ton of people to play. i did the brackets last night, some of the first round matchups are sweet! i think a couple of the teams that were super bowl losers could pull off some upsets!

so we simply pick who wed think would win.

What are you using to sim them?
