BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) … Sabres center Daniel Briere will go
with his head and not his injured gut, postponing his return to
Buffalo's lineup until March following the NHL's Olympic break.
The Sabres co-captain announced his decision Wednesday, a
day after he had a checkup with David Mulder, the Montreal
Canadiens team doctor who surgically repaired Briere's sports
hernia in December. Briere has missed 21 games but began
practicing with the team this week, hoping to return to action
this weekend.
"Doctor just said it would be smarter to hold off until
after the break," Briere said. "Yes, I'm disappointed about
having to wait an extra three weeks. But at the same time I
know it's probably the best decision to make at this point."
Wise move. :bf1:
