All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!
You stab anyone in the face with a soldering iron lately?
I've grown to appreciate the therapeutic value of a good stabbing with a soldering iron like yourself - but I have some questions about proper technique - should I use a jabbing technique, or a twisting fore-arm with a little more shoulder grease in it kinda technique?

Buffalo Bills Ngata, Haloti, DT Oregon
If you were given a pen and paper and asked to draw the ideal defensive tackle, your best bet would be to Google “Haloti Ngata” and paste his picture on the page. He is a massive human being, yet enough of an athlete to be more than just a “rock” in the middle of the field. My concern with him is that he takes plays off, which is a huge red flag for defensive tackles. All the high first round defensive tackle busts—Andre Wadsworth, Dan Wilkinson, Gerard Warren, etc.—had that same red flag on their draft profiles. Personally, I think Ngata could very well be on that list in a few years, but there’s no denying his potential.
Dick Jauron recently announced he’s planning to continue running a 4-3 defense in Buffalo, ensuring that Ngata would indeed be a nice fit with the Bills. If Sam Adams is brought back, him and Ngata would be one of the beefiest tackle duos in football. Buffalo could build its defense in the same way the Ravens did in 2000: around a pair of monster tackles. The team already has a good secondary and talent at linebacker, so Ngata may be just what this defense needs. Again, I’m not his biggest fan, but I could certainly be wrong.
If we didn't have TKO, his 'red flag' would be a concern for me, but I think that if he thinks he's gonna take plays off, TKO, Adams, McGee and Fletcher will rip him a new one.
This is a good anaylysis from one of the mock drafts!

New York Jets Ferguson, D'Brickashaw, OT Virginia
An elite prospect in every sense, Ferguson represents a complete 180-degree shift from the offensive tackle of 5 years ago. Back then, land monsters like Leonard Davis and Mike Williams were being selected in the top 5 under the assumption that they could learn how to pass block once they got in the NFL. Well, dozens of Dwight Freeney sacks later, and teams are re-thinking what’s important at the tackle position. Weighing in at less than 300 pounds, Ferguson is the ideal answer to pass rushers like Freeney, and is the best pass blocker to enter the NFL since Orlando Pace.
After entering last season with huge expectations, the Jets had a colossal collapse, and have been left with all sorts of questions to answer this off-season. While offensive line is certainly one of them, I think running back is the team’s most pressing need. Therefore, as mentioned in the explanation of the Texans’ pick, I think there’s a significant chance that Houston will be the team selecting in the #4 spot come draft day. If the Jets hold onto this spot, we could just as easily see DeAngelo Williams selected here. However, the team would still be thrilled with Ferguson, and he’d go a long way towards protecting Chad Pennington next year. It’s also much easier to get a decent running back than a starting left tackle in the later rounds, so the team might be inclined to take D’Brick here because he’s better value.
