Sorry if I sound like a newbie, but what is "Madden Mode?"

Hey Zoners, I have recently seen many of you use the term "Madden Mode" (more specifically, referring to "get yourself out of Madden Mode") and was wondering what it meant. I figure it has something to do with unrealistic trade or free agent transaction considerations simply because a player may be available. Is that about right?

It's a referrence to the Madden Football games on video game consoles/PC.

that is correct.. people think of the most outlandish trade scenarios that will never happen.. like

lets trade JP losman and our 5th round pick to denver for their two first rounders and mike shanahan!

basically, it means what you said.. unrealistic trades like a kid would make while playing john madden video games.

I do think Wanny and Rick Spielman used Madden as a drafting/free agent resource though.
