Jets waive Fabini, Fiedler and Law.

    Jets Make Roster Moves

The New York Jets announced today that the following players have been placed on waivers: tackle Jason Fabini, quarterback Jay Fiedler, linebacker Barry Gardner, defensive tackle Lance Legree, fullback Jerald Sowell and wide receiver Harry Williams, Jr. Additionally, the Jets and CB Ty Law mutually agreed today not to exercise the contract options for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 seasons. The announcements were made by New York Jets’ General Manager Mike Tannenbaum.

"Jason Fabini and Jerald Sowell enjoyed long and productive careers as members of the Jets’ franchise and we are grateful for their contributions. They both were players that the Jets could rely upon every week," said Tannenbaum. "Jay has traveled a long road as a professional athlete and has enjoyed a very productive career. Barry and Lance joined our team last season and are both quality players that unfortunately don’t fit into our plans as we move forward. We wish all of them success as they progress in their careers and we thank them for their contributions to the New York Jets."

"We were very fortunate to have a player of Ty’s caliber in 2005," continued Tannenbaum. "Ty is a warrior and a class-act and we appreciate his contributions this past season."

I can see the Bills bringing in Fabini to see where he stands as far as health. He tore a pectoral muscle in November.

Unfortunately, I can also see the Bills bringing in Feilder as possible depth at QB.

The Jets are pretty messed up right now and by the time thay are ready to contend, Law will be well past his prime.

I have heard the rumor of Law moving to Miami as well.

I've also heard they're after Culpepper and possibly The Edge (Not sure why when they have Brown?). They can't afford all of that. Law makes the most sense for them.

Fabini, if he is healthy could be a valuable pickup in free agency to help make our O-Line better

Law is on the downside of his career. His contract was setup as a 1 year deal, all the extra years/dollars was bogus fluff for the agents benefit (I got Ty a 30 million dollar deal when he was 30!)

There's a reason he got 10 int's last year: he gets picked on a lot.

Is Fabini better than Gandy? Is he looking for a large contract? I'm kind of thinking that we want a Guard or Center and only a tackle if they are something like Brick's calibre...

Fabini is not that old for a Tackle. If he's healthy that would be an upgrade to Gandy and let us focus on the interior of the line in the draft.

WE NEED TO GRAB FABINI RIGHT NOW!

Condition contract on passing physical and get it done.

Perfect fit, Jets are releasing him as a cap move.

He should be recovered from the pectoral tear soon, if not already...and
that is not the kind of injury that you have to worry about recurring.

He's been durable over the course of his career and has at least a few more very productive years left.

Good post. I've always like Fabini. He's a damn good tackle. I'd take him at LT in a heartbeat.

When i saw that he was released i thought pick him ASAP. This guys has been a starter since he was drafted. He has only missed 12 games since 1998.

and a majority of those missed games were from that pectoral injury this year..... he is an excellent lineman, and would suit your guys running game pretty well. this year hurt him by losing mackenzee, and then mawae during that game at buffalo, just did all sorts of things to them

good luck in the future months :-D

Law is an average CB now. He should retire and have a shot at being a HOF CB someday. The more he plays, the more he hurts that chance.
