View Full Version : Let's just get it out in the open about John Clayton

The guy is an absolute idiot. On numerous occassions he has reported one thing one day, only to turn around the very next day and report the opposite.

Plain and siimple, he's just not a reliable source. In fact, I highly doubt that he even has 1 connection in the NFL. I bet the guy has never even picked up a football in his entire life.

He's just a wordsmith that has mastered the art of transfomring a hypothetical situation into a full blown report. He's wasting everyone's time and ESPN's money.

Let me give you an example:

" I just got done talking with Marv Levy and while he actually never came out and said that he would release Sam Adams, I was under the impression just from the dark tone in his voice that it is strong possibilty, and that it just might occur."

Then, the very next week when the Bills sign Adams to a multi-year contract, a contridiction appears:

"Just as I expected, the Bills are retaining Adams through '08. It was a roller coaster of negotiation where it even seemed for a moment that the Bills weren't even open to contractual talks with Adams agent. blah-blah-blah"

This is Clayton with each and every report. A totally useless weasel. All that he does is report rumor twisted with 2nd hand facts and shakes in a bit of speculation.

Hmm, maybe ESPN needs to strap a ham to Clayton's chest and starve Hammerin' Hank Goldberg and have them fight to the death.

I stopped visiting the ESPN website long ago. All the NFL reporters and basic news is for Insiders only. :coocoo:

Who the hell would pay money to read the poor guesses of Clayton, Mort and Lenny P ? They have been proven time and again to be dead wrong in their predictions.

I have CNNsi,CBSSportsline and NFL.com on my shortcuts. Plenty of good info for free.

Same here.

I can't stand Clayton. It has always seemed to me that he has a few teams and coaches/GMs that he likes and he slants his reporting to favor them regardless of the situation or circumstances.

Look Bills fans were screwed with ESPN about week 13 of this season when word came out TD was going to be gone. He fed those SOB's inside info from the Bills and even other teams. He is thier boy. We wont' get jack from them.
