    Sources: CBA Extension Will Happen

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is optimistic that a new collective bargaining agreement can be reached by Wednesday's deadline.

"There is no internal issue in the NFL, none that would have prevented us from having a deal done this weekend," Jones said Saturday. "It's between the league and the players association."

A day after NFL Players Association president Gene Upshaw told agents that a deal would not likely get done, Jones said major progress has been made.

Getting a Collective Bargaining Agreement extension before the deadline isn't as impossible as it sounded not long ago. In fact, word is that an extension could be announced in the very near future.

In late-breaking news Saturday night, a Scout.com source at the NFL Combine reports that members of one NFL organization are telling their staff that there is a very strong chance that the CBA will be extended by the deadline. Significant recent progress has been made, according to the source.

In a somewhat related matter, an NFL source has told Scout.com that the 2006 salary cap will be announced on Monday and according to this source, will be $95 million. This is on the high end of what was expected - most estimates were anywhere from $92 to $95 million.

PFT also says it will get done, but they think FA will be pushed back a week or so. Though it seems like some of them are confident that they will get the deal done by Wednesday's deadline.

I sure hope they get this deal done. I hate to think what the league would become without a salary cap. Just like baseball, a bunch of haves and alot more have nots. Why would these greedy bastards want to ruin the best sport there is?

They need to delay FA so teams & agents can digest the provisions of the extension

Bull crap. They need to start FA and get the hell on with it. Its thier own damn faults they are behind as is. NFLPA and the NFL say it starts march 3rd and they have no intention on moving it back and nor should they.

Re: Sources: CBA Extension Will Happen

Without an extension of the collective bargaining agreement, this could be one of the bloodiest weeks the NFL has witnessed, with more teams cutting more players at this time of the year than the league ever has seen.
Walt Harris finished fourth on Washington with 57 total tackles.
And no team is in worse shape than the Washington Redskins, who some league insiders believe will have to cut anywhere from 15 to 20 players.
Those numbers will depend on how many players will be willing to restructure their contracts, but one NFL general manager who reviewed Washington's salary-cap situation wondered how the Redskins will even be able to field a team.
For starters, the Redskins are expected to release defensive backs Matt Bowen and Walt Harris, defensive linemen Renaldo Wynn and Brandon Noble, wide receivers James Thrash and Taylor Jacobs, center Cory Raymer, and kicker John Hall. Even with all those moves, the Redskins still will be significantly over the salary cap, requiring them to release even more players from their roster.
No team is rooting for a CBA extension any harder than Washington. Otherwise, the Redskins team next weekend will be considerably different from the one they have this weekend.

You think that Jerry Jones knows that Snyder will bolt on him in the next 48 hours has something to do with it ? Maybe
