That is what is bugging me more than anything. Marv says no specific cuts to come that are 'targeted' cuts. Anderson should have been gone the same day as fat mike

He fits the budget.

I guess you mean Benny, not Tim?

Benny might be a quality backup to a better LG, and he's not too expensive.

Then again, more cuts are coming.

Bennie isnt cut.. yet.. because
They only save 800K by cutting him. I DONT think (he better not be) will be our starting guard, but he's not that expensive and I think they'll keep him around until they find better, which they will (better). There's no urgency to cut him as his salary isn't a headache.. His play on the other hand..

I agree. Bennie is not costing us much, and has experience. He will be a decent backup to have should someone get hurt vs starting a complete rookie we may draft that may play like Geisinger...

he may not be cost much money but he stinks and is costly in our QB's health whe guys blow by him and get shots on the QB whome ever it may be at QB, plus all them damn penalties helps cost us games. so I think in the long run he costs us alot.

Be that as it may, in some games he played well and has experience. As bad as he was, he was an order of magnitude better than Geisinger and better than any of the other backups we ended up cutting. It is unrealistic to think that after the 2nd rd we will be able to get a Guard that is serviceable enough to start should one of ours go down. And as for obtaining one in FA, we cannot afford much and have plenty of other positions to go after - and there is no guarantee that even if we spent money on obtaining a guard, that he may turn out to be any better than Bennie. Bennie is good backup material and a good price for the experience he has!

mysticsoto I agree with that but I don't like the guy cause he causes too many penalties

Because benny has a cool name

Benny "the penalty" Anderson

Now how can you cut a guy with a name that cool.

As ICE I don't know why the hell this issue is here.

$1.5 mil for a penalty prone Guard is simply insane.

Agreed. 800K is 800K. I thought we were getting a 'house cleaning'. Anderson should have been cut the day Williams was.
