How 'bout Desmond Clark as a TE?

IDK what he'd go for but he's a receiving type of TE who would fit in here decently. If we could get him for around $1M it would be worth it.

Not a bad pick up actually...and he only made $450,000 this year...I would think that Miami could resign him but we would be able to bring him in at under $800,000.

Was he hurt this year...I can't believe that after 51 catches in 2001 the he would just fall to 2.

The Broncos couldn’t wait to get rid of him for a reason... he drops too many passes, he runs poor routs, take too many plays off, and is only a so-so run blocker. There is a reason why they went out and brought back Sharpe. He showed a lot of potential early in his career, but has got worst as time goes on. Furthermore, he only caught 2 passes all last season for the Miami dolphins, and he wasn’t injured.

True, a change of scenery might be good for him… but personally, I just don’t see the justification to give him 1mil a season for a guy who is in effect the clone of Lonny Johnson.

I don't remember Lonnie johnson ever catching 51 balls and having 6 tds in one season. I had him on my fantasy team 2 years ago and he looked really good to me. This past season he had an arm injury that kept him out of like the first 5 or 6 games and he never fully got into Miami's passing game partly because of mcmichaels emergence IMO. I will say that he will drop and occasional pass.

Yes, TT... that’s true, but look at the fact that after that season (51 catches, 6TDs) the Broncos dropped him like a bad habit. The reason for this is he is incredibly unreliable, a so-so blocker, and runs poor routs. Ask a Bronco fan about 'old Clark and see what type of response you get (they were thanking God he was gone). Trust me, he's one of those players who can put up some good numbers but rarely is a difference maker and more likely than not leaves you shaking your head (a la JR). He is not an upgrade, and most definitely not even a good backup as the Fins also cant wait to show him the door (of course they've got cap problems so that might be more a symptom of than anything else).

I don't really know any bronco fans so i haven't heard their prospective on this but I still wouldn't mind bringing him in for a salary in the 500,000 dollar range and work together with D Moore. Do you know if he is a distraction in the lockeroom or just someone who can be lazy at times?

clark was hurt this year. so you are not stating the facts.. and if you didnt know clark was hurt this year, but arent afraid to say he was healthy, when you didnt know the truth, then i will take the rest of your comments on his skill level, ect.. with a grain of salt.

miami has McMichael, who is a great TE and he barely got action at the end of the year. Also, clark was hurt, he broke and dislocated his left forearm in the preseason. he was let go by denver for injuries. they had sharpe and didnt need to spend 1.2 million on a back up te.

You're right... sorry about that, I forgot Clark was hurt...

However I still stand by what I said about his performance and that Denver was happy to be rid of him. However he was healthy from week 6 on, got his two catches in weeks 7 and 9 (vs Bills and Pack), and disappeared for the rest of the year. Why? I can honestly say I don't know.

BTW: TT, I've never heard anything about Clark being a problem in the locker room... I never heard he was lazy either, just that he is incredibly unreliable, and takes plays off.

Tatonka, good catch... I'm not one to make a mistake like that, and the fact you caught it just reinforces my like of this community. Got some of the smartest fans around here.

i am not sure why he didnt catch any passes the last half of the season either.. maybe one of the fish fans can enlighten us?

i just assumed that if a stud like Randy McMichael couldnt get many passes the second half of the season, then there was obviously no room for clark to catch any either..

McMichael didn't get many catches for a reason... he was unable to get off the line when teams made an effort to bump him... In essence he was a victim of his own success, teams started to pay attention to him, and he disappeared (because he wasn't able to handle it).

McMichael's performance dropped off w/ the injury to Fiedler.

Before the injury he averaged 3 1/2 catches a game for 49 yards and during the Lucas stint his average dropped to 2.2 for 23 yards.

All we need is a backup who can play in the unfortunate event that Moore gets hurt.

The difference between JR and Moore is like the difference between Price and Reed. Moore has surer hands than JR, is tougher after the catch, and can bulldoze defenders around. JR may be a little faster, but I'd take Moore in a heartbeat. Moore is one of the league's underrated TEs mostly b/c he played in JR's shadow and on Tampa for all those years under Dungy.

500K and I'm fine w/ his signing. Besides, there's not a tone of TEs out there this FAcy period. Kelly perhaps.

Let's not forget that the 51 receptions by Clark were out of desperation by the Broncos-


MCafferty broke a leg, Rod Smith missed time due to a groin pull, Their 3 WR was Kennisson and that coward walked out on the team the Saturday before a game, RBs Orlando Gary and Terrell Davis were hurt, and their receiving options were down to their TE corps, Kieth Poole, Matt Dominguez, and Scottie Montgomery.


It was much more a factor that the Broncos had ZERO other options.
