Bills | Team continues to talk with Moulds
Thu, 2 Mar 2006 05:27:10 -0800
Leo Roth, of the Democrat and Chronicle, reports the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl">Buffalo Bills and WR Eric Moulds (http://www.kffl.com/player/224/nfl)' representative resumed talking on Wednesday, March 1, and today the team will mull over a counterproposal. Greg Johnson, Moulds' personal adviser, said he is seeking a restructured contract that would lower Moulds' $10.85 million cap figure but not cut his pay. "Maybe they are waiting for that Hail Mary," said Johnson, who stressed again that Moulds won't take any sort of pay reduction. "We'd like to see Eric finish his career in Buffalo, and if it makes sense for him to take a pay cut, we'd do it. But based on the information (the Bills) have given me, there is no justification."

I think if the numbers match-up, or are close enough, the Bills will jump to re-sign E-Mo.

I know Red, but just the fact that Marv still wants him, proves them wrong. And I'm gonna rub it in while I can! :snicker:

As long as he is willing to help the team out and not just a simple restructure.

My guess is that Moulds is still gone. There is going to be a glut of players on the FA market and like Clayton from ESPN said, many will not be able to find a team willing to pay them. The cost for free agents will be cheap and we can easily get a quality rcvr at a fraction of the price that Moulds will cost.

With all of these changes, this team needs a good veteran or two. I'm pretty sure Marv's looking at that.

If Moulds remains a Bill, then the ceremonious burning of the #80 jerseys shall be stayed.

If Moulds doesn't take a paycut to help the team, Joe Jurevicious is that veteran.

....which may spur Eric to back off a little bit and throw the Bills a bone, as he knows that events may make them his best chance for a solid paycheck next year.

He better back off a lot or he may also be one of the vets without a job.

I think he knows no other team is going to pay him what he wants so he might as well find a way to stay

Yes he does. No way we can afford a 10.8 Mil cap hit.

If Moulds doesn't want a pay cut then call his bluff. Once he gets cut he will make nowhere near the money he's getting now from any other team and it will probably even be less than what the Bills are proposing in their cut to keep him.

It would be interesting to know what his counter offer was. If it did cut the team some slack then fine. If not, it will hurt us especially if we don't find a replacement, but I say let him go.

I'm splt on this one. I like Moulds and think he is intrict part of getting this team back on target, but at what price? I understand that he has been asked to take cuts in the past, but considering the situation, would it really hurt to take another?

I say F'em if he doesn't comply.

I'd let Moulds venture out into the FA martket and see what he can get. With the current state of the league, I think he's going to be greatly disappointed.

I don't know. The 49ers, the Cards and the Vikes are all looking for a FA WR. All have a good amount of money under the cap. The draft on WR this year is weak as hell.

He still won't get $10 mil.

I'm couning on it. If he is not smart enough, to realize that he'll be like a gitano (Ty Law, Ted Washington, etc), and risk money or health on this new adventure, for the a one year contract/veteran minimum pay, it is up to him.

Here, he is our leader and could have a great to nice salary type also. I would love to have him back.

Poor T.O. does though. He needs more than 41 million over seven years. Poor guy

I think letting Moulds go is the best option. Take the 5.5 in cap space and be aggressive in FA. Sign Bentley, Rocky Bernard, and Stinchcomb. Draft Davis to make up for the loss of Moulds. In the second, draft McCargo, in the third draft the best OT available, and a S.

If he won't take a pay cut, which he never has, then that means he's looking for a 2006 bonus/salary combination to equal the $6.1M salary he would be due. There's no way Marv heaps more bonus on the amortized pile... Unless it's a sign and trade scenario.

Bubbye coach Moulds.

I would like to see Moulds back in Buffalo. It is a simple as that, and he will always have my respect. That is unless he winds up in Miami then he can rot in hell with Thurman!

:beers:
