Just heard Jay Glazer on Fox Sports Radio and he said in order for them to get under the cap, they will have to cut their roster to 39 players, and even then there'd be no room for draft picks or cheap street players to fill out the 53-man roster. He said there is no other way for them to get under the cap.

He actually said he thinks the Redskins may defy the salary cap and say screw it, we're not abiding by it. The penalties would be pretty stiff I'd imagine.

Miami trimmed 14.4 Mil yesterday. They must set aside 2 mil for RFA's and ERFA's today. That means they still need to cut another 9.5 Mil again today...and then they need to create more cap room down the road , just to pay their draft picks. :D

Gibbs stated in an article that if something didn't happen they would have to cut a third of their roster just to get under the cap.

They will give us about what we need without any more purging.

What makes you so sure that all three will be more than willing to re-structure? Just curious.

you would think that with his team about to tank for the foreseeable future, Dan Snyder would have Paul Tagliabue and Gene Upshaw in a headlock right now telling them that its time to split the difference and agree on 58%.

This is all kind of surreal.

I read an article about this earlier. Teams rarely go over the cap cuz the NFL has to approve all contracts and just denies ones that put teams over the cap. But if they do go over, the Commissioner has wide lattitude to fine teams, fine individual team execs responsible for the contract and take away draft picks.
