    Source: Robbins talked of suicide

Barret Robbins, the Oakland Raiders center who was kept out of Super Bowl XXXVII in San Diego because of his behavior, was suicidal and disoriented in the hours leading to the game, according to those around him.
Raiders coach Bill Callahan, making his first public statements on Robbins Wednesday, said the 6-foot-3, 320-pound lineman "was incoherent and he was not capable of knowing where he was," when he returned to the team Saturday night after disappearing for nearly 24 hours.

"I was fearful something wrong was occurring," Callahan said.

Marisa Robbins more upset with players' reaction

The wife of Raiders center Barret Robbins is apparently preparing to defend her husband's name.

According to a report in The Contra Costa Times, Marisa Robbins said that she and Barret are working on a statement that is expected to be released in the next few days.

"There's a lot of bad stuff out there," Marisa told the newspaper. "Everything will get cleared up."

The Robbins' will write the statement with the help of Barret's agent, Drew Pittman.

The agent for Barret Robbins confirmed Monday that the Oakland Raiders' All-Pro center has bipolar disorder, and that he expressed "remorse and deep sadness" for missing the Super Bowl.

Robbins remains hospitalized because of his condition, agent Drew Pittman said in a statement to ESPN.

"Barret would like to express his remorse and deep sadness for the events surrounding the Super Bowl," the statement said. "He knows many people have been hurt by his actions, including his family, his teammates, the Raider organization, the Raider Nation, and the game of football."
