Ontario Tourism Minister Jim Bradley predicted the Buffalo Bills will see fewer Canadian fans in the stands and winter destinations like Myrtle Beach and Florida will lose Canadian "snowbirds" and the money they spend.

In 2003, there were 34.5 million visits by Canadians to the U.S., and 22 million U.S. visits to Ontario, according to the Binational Tourism Alliance.

Is Toronto mainly Bills supporters? Speaking from my travels there it's kinda like Rochester, mixed. I've met more finfans there as a matter of fact.

That's kind of a shocker. But I guess its odd that Im from Texas and am a hardcore Bills fan, yet Ive never been to a home game in Buffalo.

Im going to my first next season though!

That's kind of a shocker. !Not really. A lot of these canadians are snowbirds as well that fly to Fla. in the winter which is why they end up being finfans.

Why is everything like this viewed as such a big deal? If a person wants to travel in this world, he or she should simply get a passport.

Those too lazy or broke to get proper ID should stay home, anyway. But they should stop *****ing, or at least put the blame where it belongs - on the terrorists who have forever changed our world.

How would a homeless TacklingDummy get a passport, even if he wanted one?

I would like to go see a Toronto/Yankees game at the Skydome. But it's not worth going if I have to pay for passports on top of the ticket prices. I don't goto Canada that often and don't see the need to pay all that money to see a country I probably see 1 time every 5 years.

NYS drivers license should be enough ID to get back into NY.

It needs to be renewed every 15 years (I think that's the number)

It's actually 10 years, but still, at $97 or whatever it now costs, it's fairly inexpensive when amortized over its 10 year life.

The bigger issue other then cost may be the time it will take to make the crossing.

If every car and every person needs to show a passport and have it stamped that could make the trip a long one.

they don't stamp your passprt when you cross the border. Having a passport actually makes it faster.

Another good post. I only go to Canada for the strippers and gambling, maybe a Blue Jays game, but thats it. I should have to buy a ****ing passport when I only go to Canada once a year or less. :ill:

i don't think it will hurt the bills too much, or toronto, but the place that it will really hurt, is Niagara Falls, Ontario. They get a massive amount of youth from western ny, everytime you go to their casinos, clubs or stripclubs, you ALWAYS see majority of the people are from buffalo or rochester.

Alot of kids under 19 get fakes and go there and even guys over 21 still prefer a trip to niagara falls once in a while.

lol thats what i'm saying, it's gonna hurt them most, because kids 18-22 will not go and get a passport to have a fun time in Canada, instead they will put that money towards a keg and have a house party in nys.

Just buy the passport. It's not a huge deal yeah 97 bucks sounds like alot but it's good for 10 years.

Me i'm getting a passport anyway. I'm planning a trip to amsterdam this year. I might have to sacrifice a bills game but hey it's amsterdam. It's relativly cheap to go there anyway.

IMO your gonna need a passport to goto any foreign country soon. It's all about security now and soon i wouldn't be surprised to see mexico and bermudia and those other places require passports.

If you go to the canadian ballet just once every year, it costs you a whopping $10 extra to get your passport.

Considering they charge 8 bucks for a crappy beer, that ain't too bad.

.

It's not just 97 dollars. If a family of 4 wanted to goto the Skydome to see a Yankees game they would have to get 4 Passports, thats $388 and then theres the tickets, say $200. Is it worth to it to spend $588 on a baseball game?

I would not put the blame solely on the terrorists. Our own country was ignorant to the fact that we have hundreds of foreigners here with expired visas and someof those were actually taking flight school lessons...hum. Put two and two together.

Terrorists can get into this country easier that hell. Do we have checkpoints all along the borders? No! just the main bridges. How about where there are no bridges? None! Meanwhile thousands of illegal Mexican immigrants enter the country from the south.

All that a passport requirement will do for the state of New York is deplete the economy even more. Idiot plan by our legislators who will probably benefot financially from the lobbyists who are pushing for this law. It's not a matter of who is lazy or too cheap to spend the money. It's a matter of what's best for the state's residents.

At $9.70 per year over the life of the passport? Jeez, that is not at all unreasonable. Let's all complain about weak borders, no control over who crossing them, and for the sake of big business, lets surely not stop illegal workers from holding down wages (which our fearless leaders yak about, but won't do anything to stop it).

But hey, $9.70 per annum over 10 years....That's too much....

Dumb.....

illegal workers do the work the lazy american doesn't want to do for the amount of money the illegal worker does it for.

A head of lettuce would be $5 if a American worker picked it.
