WGR550.com reports sources have confirmed that the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl">Buffalo Bills and free agent C Kevin Mawae (http://www.kffl.com/player/1314/nfl)'s (Jets) agent, Mark Bartelstein, have held discussions. No date has been set for Mawae to visit, but he is expected to visit soon.

 Maybe give Preston another year or maybe our new staff would rather put the Duke at G

No offense, but I hope we get him because out current centers suck!

We need all the competition in camp we can get! I think he would be a nice addition to the Buffalo Bills. I bet he would enjoy facing the Jets.

Wow! This would be a huge signing especially to mentor Preston for a year or two. Get it done Marv!

I'd like him for the Dolphins, but I'm not getting into a bidding war over him. You can have him if you want to spend more money than us. He's 35.

LMAO @ competition. Man is that the buzz word or what? Yeah lets make sure we divide up all of our snaps and not have a set first string until the last week of preseason. Real smart.

Maybe if some of the players were pushed a little harder they would produce a little more on Sundays in fear of losing their starting job. I think Willis McGahee needs a RB to push him a little more.

Compeition brings out the best in people.

Im not opposed to drafting a Leon Washington should he fall in the draft.

Mawae for years would be awesome. Add another good guard in FA and one through the draft and our line looks pretty good.

I said a few weeks ago I thought the Jets would be cutting Mawae and if the price is right I wouldn't mind the Bills signing him. Marv must of been reading my stuff.

How's his bicep though? He tore it when Sam Adams fell on his last season. :snicker:

Duke is NOT the answer at Center. that a guy like Mawae is brought in.

Mawae has been good, but how much can he have left at 35?

Another 2-3 years and that's all we need. We just get a rookie Center in the draft or have Duke Preston as backup and Mawae will tutor them.

We do not have a single qualified center on our roster. I'd take Mawae at 50 over anyone we have now.

He has said in interviews (when he was still a Jet) that he will be ready for mini-camps.

A one armed Mawae can still be better than any of the dorks the Bills have on their roster.

wow!! Duke Pretson can learn from the best. err former best that is... It's been soo long since we've had a good center. I'm speechless..get it done!

Obviously he'd be cheaper than Bentley and would be an upgrade over what we have now. I wouldn't be against the signing at all.

I would love the signing. We can have Duke another year or two to be ready. Mawae had many good years and I think he's got at least 2 left in him. We need some leadership on the line. Who else is gonna give it? The only other option we have is Villarial...but I would much rather have Mawae anchoring the line at C.

I wouldn't mind the Bills signing him for a year or two to tide the Bills over until they have a long term answer at center. I'd be leary of signing him to a long term deal with a substantial signing bonus simply because of his age.

I can agree with that, for me it would DEFENITELY have to be a short term deal. A one or two year deal tops. HE'S 35!!!!!!!! Cmon, guys, this guy is not the franchise center for our O-line, we all know the game is won and lost in the trenches, and for the long haul I say no... But if he comes in for a year or 2 to help mentor Duke I'd be OK with it, depending on the #'s... That age thing kills me man... But I am really not expecting much from the team next year, as I see us as in a pretty much rebuilding mode, and well we have youth at key positions already now, i say stay young with the lines too!! Like I said before, I could deal with Mawae coming in only for a year or two maby to help mentor, but after that no thanks, and once again its gotta be for the right cash.
