    Why is Marv doing NOTHING?

I'm not angry at Marv Levy because he hasn't made a free agent move only 12-13 hours into Free Agency.

Im mad at Marv.. because since cutting Adams and Milloy, he's done NOTHING to improve the status of this club.

Look at what Carolina and Oakland did today. Suddenly, they're free agent players.

    CAROLINA PANTHERS
Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers CB Ken Lucas' 2006 salary cap number dropped from $8.78 million to $3.98 million when he restructured his contract.

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers S Mike Minter's 2006 salary cap number dropped from $3.6 million to $2.1 million when he restructured his contract.

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports Carolina Panthers DE Julius Peppers' 2006 salary cap number dropped from $14.8 million to $11.3 million when he restructured his contract.

Pat Yasinskas, of the Charlotte Observer, reports the Carolina Panthers have restructured the contract of OG Mike Wahle. His 2006 salary cap number dropped from $7.3 million to $4.7 million.

These four moves saved Carolina nearly $12.5 million in cap space for 2006. Suddenly they are MAJOR players in free agency.
    =================================================================
NOW.. Take a look at the Raiders

Jerry McDonald, of the Oakland Tribune, reports the Oakland Raiders saved $2,340,000 against their 2006 salary cap by restructuring the contracts of FB Zack Crockett and OG Brad Badger.

Jerry McDonald, of the Oakland Tribune, reports the Oakland Raiders shifted some incentive payouts in WR Ronald Curry's contract from 2006 to 2007 to save some money on their 2006 salary cap. Although he retained his original salary, his cap number dropped from $5,040,000 to $1,640,000.

Jerry McDonald, of the Oakland Tribune, reports the Oakland Raiders shifted some incentive payouts in DE Bobby Hamilton's contract from 2006 to 2007 to save some money on their 2006 salary cap. Although he retained his original salary, his cap number dropped from $5,320,000 to $1,750,000.

These four moves gave Oakland more than $10.5 million towards the 2006 cap.
    ==================================================================
Why is Marv Levy doing NOTHING to give Buffalo more cap flexibility. Having $14 million in cap space is good, but it's not any good if 20 teams above you have more.

I'm fairly certain he remembers its 2005, not 1990 anymore. The Bills have a tremendous amount of holes they need to fill. The bottom line is the current roster is simply not talented enough to compete for a playoff spot. The Bills don't need contributors.. They need IMPACT players.

Why is Eric Moulds still a Bill if he refused a paycut and they can't restructure? Why is Bennie Anderson still a Bill period? Why isn't Marv getting guys like Takeo SPikes and/or London Fletcher to restucture and free up some cap room? Why is Mike Gandy still on this roster at over $2.5 million when most feel he'll be a backup? Chris Villarrial is another player who's cap number is high and production is down.

Cutting Moulds and restructuring would give the Bills at least another $10 million to attack the offensive and defensive lines aggressively.

Get off your rocker, Marv. And start doing something. You can't possibly believe this team is 1-2 players away from competiting.

Levy is not the money man. He has tried to cut Mould's salary to no avail, and they cut those players saving money on the cap. What else do you want.

It seems NOBODY is making any signings. Marv will also pale in comparison to how Donahoe seemed to always make waves in FA. Unfortunately, those waves became only ripples when it came to the impact of many of them.

Re: Why is Marv doing NOTHING?

Why is it that whenever the Bills don't move at (Fill in person's name here) pace when it comes to signing guys THEY want, that it always comes back as "WHY ISNT LEVY/ DONAHOE /BUTLER DOING ANYTHING!!!"

It happends within the first 24 hours of Free Agency every year.

1- You don't know what they are doing- so saying they are sitting on their hands is pure speculation/ imagination.

2- The Bills are in good cap shape, not outstanding shape. They have a lot of holes to fill . They aren't going to blow the whole nut on the first & more expensive players

3- Like it or not- if anyone has been reading the CBA talk stories- the Bills are not a high cash flow team. They don't have $75-$100 cheap seats, or million dollar revenue streams. They won't toss around signing bonuses like candy on halloween

Be prepared for the Bills to be somewhat active, but not recklessly aggressive in free agency.

Just like last year, and most years before that

Not to compare the two sports or teams- but we heard the same crap when the NHL free agency period started in August and the Sabres didn't go out and sign Jeremy Roenik, Brett Hull, you name it.

The sky is always falling when the media doesn't report us as being active or signing someone immediately.

I dont have a problem with us not signing any big names on day one.

I have a problem with some of the bums (anderson, posey) being on the roster still, some of the overpaid guys (villarrial and gandy) not having deals redone to provide more cap room, and most of all a $10.8 million dollar second receiver on the roster.. Though I hope to God Marv waits to cut him AFTER its too late for him to get big money somewhere else.

when we cut Sam Adams I figured we had a plan.. What is it?

The two players you mention (Anderson/Posey) have nothing to do with us signing free agents.

If the Bills needed the money to sign someone, they can be cut later

Be patient- it's not like Levy is going to publish any "plan" in the paper for you anyway

I agree about Anderson. He's garbage.

There's not much sense in restructuring any contracts until we actually need the cap room. We're going to have to pay the money eventually, so if we do fail to sign someone, then we can pay those guys this year.

I'm surprised Moulds is still on the roster as well. I figure they're waiting to sign his replacement, and then they will dump him.

I'm sure they have a plan, unfortunately not of us are privy to it. God forbid they don't have plan, then no one at OBD is fit to be in the position they are in (which I doubt is the case).

That's the key. I think that Marv Levy and the current front office is going to be a lot quieter about announcing names of players that are visiting and signing. Hell, look how long it look them until the coaching staff started leaking out. Marv is going to do things by the book and control the leaks IMO.

I posted a scouting report about Royal yesterday. Basically, he's a good blocker and great on intermediate routes, but lacks big-time speed. It said he has a ton of potential, but needs time to grow into it.

Sounds like they are hedging their bets with Royal and Everett, let them compete, and hope at least one turns out well.
