The Bengals have lost their first unrestricted free agent.

Tight end Matt Schobel will sign with the Philadelphia Eagles, a source told the Enquirer this afternoon.

Schobel played four seasons with the Bengals. He had 18 receptions for 193 yards and one touchdown in 2005 and played, at times, as a blocking H-back in shot-gun passing formations.

Schobel had 90 receptions, nine for touchdowns, in four seasons in Cincinnati.

Terms of the new deal with the Eagles were not yet available.

Kemo would have been perfect in Buffalo.

just cant figure out why a 5-11 team with money to spend isnt even ATTEMPTING to get after anyone who can really help this team.

Oh well.. 'In Marv we trust'. I guess?

Here's what I do know.. We need to five a minimum of five positions with quality players, a few of them IMPACT players.. And they're falling to other teams left and right.

Now unless I'm mistaken, we're at least $14 million under the cap, and our visit so far is to come from Royal, a 99th string TE.

This doesn't concern you at all?

Panthers | Team agrees to terms with Kemoeatu
Sat, 11 Mar 2006 11:38:38 -0800
Darin Gantt, of the Rock Hill Herald, reports the <A href="http://www.kffl.com/team/10/nfl">Carolina Panthers have agreed to terms with free agent DT Ma'ake Kemoeatu (http://www.kffl.com/player/5625/nfl) (Ravens). The 6-foot-5, 350-pounder agreed in principle to a five-year, $23 million deal, one which will likely be signed early next week.

Well (and Im done with the subject after this statement)

When you are the first-year GM of a 5-11 football team that is miles away from the good teams of the AFC and you have plenty of cap room to get after linemen, a position that 7-year old kids know are the top priority, and you see a team with a similar team like Cleveland get after the best center and arguably the top tackle in the pool.. As a bills fan it does alarm me.

Before this weekend is over at the pace these signings are going.. If Buffalo is shut out.. Who is going to be out there that is a major upgrade over the sub-par talent (in many positions) that we currently have?

What is the use of being in good salary cap shape if you can't take advantage of it?

Kemo's deal was for 5 years and $27.5 million, including $6 million signing bonus and a $2 million second tier bonus.. His 2006 base is $1 million.

What a great cap friendly deal for CArolina.. Kemo's 2006 cap number is going to be for less than $2.5 million.

kemo was no more a fit here than sam adams.. we mine as well have kept him.

schobel was nothing more than mark campbell.. but slightly better than royal.. rofl.

neither of these guys were coming here.. they dont "fit" the bills.

Thank you for the reality check. Marv/Dick's cuts thus far have made it clear that they're looking for players to fit their system. They're not going to blow the bank on guys like they just cut.....though I agree with Pat that 2.5 for Kemo is a pretty good deal for Carolina--good replacement for Brentson Buckner at a lower price.

I am bummed that LeCharles isn't coming here, but long before the Eagles rumors people were saying that he really wanted to play in Cleveland for family reasons. We couldn't really have paid him more than Cleveland did, and if the guy wanted to go to Cleveland.....

I am sure Marv isn't out playing Bingo at the VFW. Lets not get out panties in a bunch yet.

kemo was one of my picks, but maybe he just wasn't a fit for the scheme. It's my understanding he was more of a 2 gap dt.

He was not a fit for the Bills new system, what are you talking about? He is younger version of Sam Adams, but not as good.
