I have it on good word that Marv Levy offered a contract to Ron Edwards that was not accepted believed to be for around 4 years and $8 million.

Although things always change, don't count on Edwards returning to Buffalo.

Edwards is soft. Injury prone and gets moved out with ease for a 320 lb DT.

I'd never want him back.

Maybe he told Edwards to make money the old fashioned way - earn it.

If that is the case BYE!

Thats pretty good money for a guy whose either hurt or on the bench.

Slayer, do you think that DT Tripplet was a bad signing? I dont think Royal was any big deal but Tripplet was solid and should help, dont you think?

I liked the Triplett signing, he fits our system well and is already familiar with it.

Well put Devin!

I'd be shocked to see Edwards end up getting a better deal than that elsewhere. Given his injury history, I don't know where he expects to find a team that will give him a big signing bonus or invest a lot of long-term money in him. While he has shown flashes of potential, if I were dealing with him, I'd want to structure the contract with a lot of incentives rather than up-front money.

4 years, $8 million? That is far too much for a player who has not shown much and has been injured good portion of the time. There are better players who are available as UDFAs than him - Pat Williams was. Maybe if it was a back loaded contract where he would only be shown the money when he shows he is worth it but otherwise no.

I am glad that he did not sign that contract.

I had hoped edwards would pan out and do a decent job last year, but he does seem to be too injury prone. With that in mind I think to offer him any more money would just be silly, if he won't take what he was already offered than he can go warm someone else's bench

If that's true...no big loss...he's never shown he was anything more than a backup. I don't think our run defense would've been much better than it was had he played in 2005

Agreed, If I remember correctly, before we had Sam Adams, Edwards used to start and I don't remember him being that great. Would he be a nice backup, yes. Would he be a good starter, I think not!

Bye, bye. :bigwave:

Agreed. Pat and Edwards were the DT's for a year before Sam got here. We had to go get sam because Edwards did nothing while starting.

If he turned down that offer....If Mr IR list turned down that offer, then **** him. What an ass. We don't need him if he thinks he is worth more. :ill:

The worse thing to imagine about this is Marv would even offer him that kind of a contract.

We have a master negotiator on our hands here.
