Sabres coach's daughter has mass on her brain

PHILADELPHIA - The Buffalo Sabres could be without coach Lindy Ruff in the coming weeks while he and his wife tend to their 11-year-old daughter, Madeleine, who has an unidentified mass on her brain.

Ruff had been mysteriously absent in recent days while attending to "family matters." He skipped a news conference Thursday night following the Sabres' victory over Tampa Bay and did not show up for practice Friday, which led to speculation as the Sabres prepared for the Philadelphia Flyers.

"There's no need to guess," Ruff said Saturday afternoon, before the Sabres took the ice against the Flyers. "It's something a lot of people have dealt with. Really, all we ask is that you say a prayer."

This is the answer that I sought in the thread I started the other day?? I wish I hadn't asked, as bad news such as this is never good.

I'm not a religious person by any means, but my thoughts are with Lindy and the family for a quick and easy recovery.
