    Pickett - Weight Concerns ?

An offensive assistant coach for a team in the Rams' division said he was not impressed with Pickett this past season. He said when Pickett came out of Ohio State in 2001, he was slimmer than he is now and made more plays.
After defensive coordinator Lovie Smith left to become Chicago's head coach, Pickett was allowed to gain weight and played anywhere from 320 to 330 pounds.
"He was much better two or three years ago," the assistant coach said. "He was much lighter. He's heavy now. I was watching film yesterday of when we played them and he did not play very well. He can be a very good player if he gets his weight down. He's quick and will give effort.
"I didn't think he was like that last year. If he's lighter he'll be OK. But who needs that headache? You're always worrying about that (being overweight)."
Asked if he would rather have Pickett or Jackson, the assistant said, "Grady is better than this guy. You've got to block him the whole game. Pickett is going to have to be in shape. He needs someone to push him."

    Hmm... interesting.

I would still have felt better if he signed with us.

Why? Signing him may be a reach. Look if the best DT on the market is rated a 70 out of 100, you don't throw 90+ rated money at the guy JUST because you have a need and the guy is there. THAT is how you end up sucking and getting in cap trouble.

      Draft a DT.

Well, that explains why he left without a media interview... He took one look at John Allaire and the Bod-Pod and was like 'F that.....'

I agree with you ICE, but you can't deny the fact that he had over 100 tackles from the DT position and he is still very young. Pat Williams did that for us and we let him walk and look what happened to our D. We could have really used him. Plus, he is proven. Ngata could come in and just plain suck and then where does that leave us??

See that number is wrong and has been a subject of late. He had 60 something tackles. Someone combined his total and his assisted together to get that number.

Maybe they did tell him he needed to drop 20lbs?

                Hehe..

DL coach Bill Kollar may have warned Marv/Jauron . The Bills may have tried a Sam Adams contract on him, filled with incentives and for not much $$. The paper speculated he may have only received the same contract what Tripplett did. ( In the 3-3.5 Mil a year range ) The Rams had a contract on the table for only 5 year-16 Mil and would not budge.

Rather than pretend we know better, this might explain a lot.

Well, you've gotta think that having Kollar here, who's been Pickett's only DL coach since he's been in the league, he is WELL aware of his plusses and minuses. So there obviously are some probs with him, or he'd be a Bill right now. I mean, the Bills had more insight into the guy than any other team, probably including the Rams.

What? The Bills knowing what they are doing and NOT like a guy the fans say we must have? Are you on crack?

I'm so glad we got a Strength and Conditioning Coach that knows what he is doing, instead of letting the players get fat like Brad Roll did.
