Cardinals | Team meets with Wells to discuss offer sheet
Mon, 20 Mar 2006 13:11:04 -0800
AzCardinals.com reports restricted free agent OG <A href="http://www.kffl.com/player/6162/nfl">Reggie Wells (Cardinals) visited with Arizona Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) vice president of football operations Rod Graves and head coach Dennis Green (http://www.kffl.com/player/9132/nfl) to discuss his future with the Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) organization Monday, March 20. "We talked about Reggie's commitment and his feelings about staying with the Arizona Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl)," said Graves following the meeting. "We also talked about expectations and the direction of the program." Arizona has the right to match the Buffalo Bills (http://www.kffl.com/team/9/nfl) offer sheet and retain Wells. However, if the Cardinals (http://www.kffl.com/team/6/nfl) elect not to match the offer, they will be compensated with a sixth round draft choice, the round in which they originally selected Wells in the 2003 draft. "I feel it was a very positive meeting," concluded Graves. "We'll evaluate our decision today and expect to have an announcement soon in respect to us matching the offer he received in Buffalo."

Well...it's not like we didn't expect it... :ill:

From Billsdaily.com:

Wells Meets With Cards: Cards restricted free agent guard Reggie Wells met with Arizona team officials yesterday and it appears that they will definitely match the Bills offer sheet. Wells had a chance in the meeting to voice displeasure in the organization giving them reason not to match the offer, but he had nothing but praise, saying he rather not up his family and move. Cards VP Rod Graves said it was a positive meeting and they will have an announcement soon after evaluating the meeting. Expect the Bills to remain in the market for a guard.

I would be thrilled if they didn't match it, but am expecting them to do it.
