News on upcoming Stephen Neal heel turn

We may see how "unbiased" people really are on this board soon.

MOst of us, especially including myself, have been yearning for Levy to sign Stephen Neal.. Well.. The mystery is out to where's he been hiding.

Dolphins | Team visits with S. Neal
    Tue, 21 Mar 2006 20:07:30 -0800
Alex Marvez, of the Sun-Sentinel, reports the Miami Dolphins visited with free agent OL Stephen Neal (Patriots) Monday and Tuesday, March 20 and 21. Neal could start at right guard if incumbent OL Rex Hadnot were shifted to center.

If he signs with Miami. He'll suddenly suck.

I don't think anyone thinks he sucks. I also don't think anyone sees him as the next Rueben Brown.

Doesn't look like he walked out of Miami with a contract. Maybe we're still in the running. I can't remember, has he visited OBD yet?
Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

I dont think so either, if the Fins get him they really have made the moves in FA they need to make. Its a shame that we will not likely be bringing him in.

1- I want Stephen Neal on this football team badly.

2- IF, and this is IF he signs with Miami, off the top of my head I can think of a handful of people in here that will start saying he sucks, he's overated, he was a system guard.. blabblahblah.

HOW THE HELL DO THE DOLPHINS KEEP SIGNING GUYS. they're one of the final two in the running for Lavar Arrington too.

Re: News on upcoming Stephen Neal heel turn

Neal showed a lot of promise with the Pats in 2004, but plateaued (some might even say regressed) last year. He is a great athlete for an OG and has professional work ethic, but his technique isn't great and he leaves his feet way too much. He seems to either make a great block or miss on a guy.

I think the reason he has lasted so long in FA is because he knows this is his one chance at a decent FA deal (he is turning 30 soon), but teams aren't really ready to commit to him for much beyond average dollars. On one hand, he is athletic and improved from a guy who hadn't played football in 6 years to a NFL starting OG. On the other, he seemed to plateau off on a level where it made you wonder if that was all he was going to be. Sure, he is athletic, but given how much time he had away from the game one has to wonder if he will ever be able to develop the kind of consistency and technique in his game that guys who have been playing their whole life at a high level manage to attain.

Neal has visited several teams and is reportedly visiting Houston today. The Vikings seem to have shown the most interest thus far, so I'd make them the favorite to sign him.

I like Neal, but it isn't like he is the greatest thing ever. There are other options.

Good points, but you didnt have to watch Bennie Anderson play last year either.

Compared to Anderson, Neal is Jim Ritcher.

If it takes a team full of over-rated players to collect 3 SB rings ill gladly over pay for them.

There is a report today that the Pats are close to re-signing Neal, along with Troy Brown.

There is also a report that they have made informal contact to see about trading for Eric Moulds.

You are reaching. You want Neal on this team badly? he is a good guard, not great. Maybe Modrak and co have him rated as good, but when they got him in here, he wasn't the fit for us? Maybe we offered a good contract and he doesnt' like it. Maybe he wants more? Who knows.

If he signs with Miami, he signs with Miami. he is what he is, a good guard at best.

Jim Ritcher was our weak link on that OL.

A "good" guard would look great compared to whats there now.
