Soldier Surprises Woman Who Sent Care Packages
Bridgette Bornstein
Reporting
(WCCO) A U.S. Army soldier drove halfway across the country to say thank you to a Minnesota woman who helped him through his time in Iraq.
Sgt. Mark Alaimo of the Army's 70th Engineering Battalion is one of many soldiers who received care packages from an organization called Operation Minnesota Nice.
Soldiers are not expected to write back to the Minnesotans who send them packages through Operation Minnesota Nice, but many do.
Some, such as Alaimo, do even more to show their thanks.
Alaimo and his family drove all the way from Syracuse, N.Y. on Wednesday to thank Operation Minnesota Nice member Shelley Woods in person.
