Dolphins Sign Fullback Fred Beasley (http://www.finheaven.com/content/view/3134/52/)Thursday, 23 March 2006

[KFFL (http://www.kffl.com/player/1572/NFL)] ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports the Dolphins have signed free agent FB Fred Beasley to a one-year contract.

The 180th overall pick in the 1998 draft, the 6-0, 246-pounder had spent his previous 8 NFL seasons with the 49ers. Once considered the league's best fullback, Beasley reached the Pro Bowl in 2003 and was named All-Pro in 2002 and 2003. In 2005, Beasley clashed with coaches in San Francisco and was benched in favor of veteran Chris Hetherington.

The addition of Beasley, 31, gives the Dolphins a potentially complete fullback capable making a difference in short yardage situations. Together with tailback Ronnie Brown, the Dolphins will likely field an all-Auburn starting backfield.

According to ESPN's Mort, Miami is one of three finalist for Lavar Arrington (Jags and Cinci the others- I think)

My gut is telling me that he's going to JAX. I'd like to have the added talent to the LB corps with Thomas and Crowder, but I'm not sure how we'd afford him, with Peterson setting the bar with a huge payday. I'm on the fence with Arrington, we'll see what happens.

As far as the Beasley signing, it's great to get a good blocking fullback, hopefully he'll open up those lanes for #23 and possibly #34, and then a healthy #8.

He cancelled his trip to Cincy(may still visit them in the future), but it seems like he will choose either the Dolphins of Jaguars. I hope he chooses the Fins, but Jacksonville may be able to offer him more money.
