Mike Sando, of the Tacoma News Tribune, reports Minnesota Vikings OG Steve Hutchinson's new contract counts more than $13.3 million against the 2006 salary cap. The deal includes $4.75 million in incentives, a $10 million signing bonus and a $6 million roster bonus. The deal also includes a no-trade clause.

That's insane for one player a guard on top of that, I dont care if you're $30 million under the cap.

Minnesota is going for it this year, no doubt about that.

Those numbers are ridonkulous

Why pay that much for a guard. Those crazy vikings they get rid of one high priced player only to bring in anthor one.

The deal also includes a no-trade clause.

Too bad about that no trade clause. He would be worth the $$$ after first year or two and Vikings absorb all that upfront money.

This puts Bryant McKinnie in the Pro Bowl for the next three years, making Donahoe's pick of Mike Williams look even more ******ed.

Donahoe's pick was fine. Donahoe's problem was giving too little effort to controlling which coaches were hired so that his potenial would be utilized. With the coaches he had he was bound to fail. He will do well elsewhere.

The problem is that Walter Jones was the main reason for Hutchinson's success. If anyone thinks he'll be as good without Jones, they are

I don't see why this is so surprising. In most cases, you have to overspend to get a good O-line. That's what the Vikings did.
