Re: BillsZone Summation Thread
We pretty much look the same as we did before Drew Bledsoe. Although we made like 15 moves to come full circle. And we have nothing to show for it.
Oh except we are now a laughing stock.I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?"
"Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet.
You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times."
It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach.
He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Re: BillsZone Summation Thread
Well I like the Bills but by the looks of it right now, the win now scenario doesn't exist. It will take years for this franchise to be a Super Bowl team if ever. That doesn't mean I hate the Bills or that I will root for another team. But beliving that we will be a Playoff team or Super Bowl team this year will only result in broken dreams.

Re: BillsZone Summation Thread
With a new GM and Coach in town, I believed all along this was at least a 2 year deal before we could dream of 9-10 wins and the last wild card spot. Laying blame on Marv & Jauron for the last several years of failure is misdirected. They weren't here.
When FA started, I saw a terrible overall pool of players. Made no sense for the Bills to give 30 something name guys big $$, unless they were already an 9-10 win team on the brink of breaking through and going deep into the playoffs. The reality is that we're far from that. Young players who can start and solid reserves are being given the $$ instead. Marv isn't spending foolish and I can't blame him, considering what was out there.
Yet many here are so frustrated with the lack of recent playoff games that they wanted a sign of instant turnaround with many name guys being signed. The chances of that ever working are slim.
You build through the draft and fine tune a missing link or 2 with Free Agency. Not the other way around.
Even though talent is a must, it's a Coaches game more than ever and we'll go as far as our Coordinators ( Fairchild & Fewell ) take us. Jauron is a delegator, much like Marv was. If you can aquire enough talent and apply them to a good scheme, you can win. It's not all about who has the most headline grabbing name guys.
I'll visit camp this summer with a upbeat attitude and a sober/realistic outlook of this team, unlike many here. It's NOT going to happen overnight with a QB situation up in the air, a whole new Coaching staff with new schemes and some positions still short on quality. Patience needs to be shown with promising rookies from this upcoming Draft. A few could be starting immediately. Do we expect Pro Bowl performances in their first year ?
If you actually thought we could improve by 5-6 wins during March FA, I have a bridge to sell you in Brooklyn for $24.
The TD era is gone and we can't change the last 5-6 years. I'm giving the new guys a chance. I expect progress in spurts, not all at once.Anonymity is an abused privilege, abused most by people who mistake vitriol for wisdom and cynicism for wit
