I believe the Bills will trade down this April.
They may opt to move down 1 to 4 spots.
If Vernon Davis is there I think Denver is
the team as they both need reciever help and lost Jeb Puzier (Sp).
If Jay Cutler is there I think one of the or four team below us
bite. That can be extreamly benifitial to this team.
I like Nagata...he can be the kind of DT that you can have
there 6-10 years and not worry about. If one of the 4 teams below us
trade our pick for thier #1 and a 2nd rounder ...We still may have a shot
a Nagata. If Nagata goes to the raiders...then a trade down is more likely
as the other 2 player mentioned may both be there. If we trade down up to 4 spots we havea real shot at Bunkley also which most have mentioned better fits out new scheem...I believe this draft is deep at DT...so if we lost out on both we could pick up to 3 later on. In todays NFL you rotate these guys anyway to keep them quik and fresh.
So based on the best value for us with a trade to denver here is my mock draft.

#15 trade with Denver
This pick some might say is a reach here. If we wait till the 22 pick we might risk the texans or another team trading up to get him. He was rated higher be y some scouts then Dbrick before his ACL. The bills are famous for picking top players coming off injuries that later recover and regain form. He is huge and can play both rt and lt...
it is also an insuranse pick if J Peters doesnt sign long term.
Eric Winston OT
Ht: 6-7 Wt: 310 40: 5.25

Class: Senior
2006 Scout.com NFL Draft Rankings (full list (http://scout.scout.com/a.z?s=211&p=9&c=12&nid=83&lnid=124&yr=2006)):
Pos: OT Pos Rank: #3 Pos Rating:
Biography:
Held down a little bit as a draft prospect as he continued to recovered from 2004's knee injury. Bounced back during the course of the year and was named to the AFCA All-American team. Strong pass blocker who allowed just a half-sack all season.

#22 Trade from Denver
See above on injury. In the cover 2 coaching staff has said they need 3 good conerback...he can ease in at FS if needed and is insurance for a possible Nate departure in 2007. This is a boom or bust pick....but he ran fine at the combine.
Again would have gone much higher if he stayed healthy and was ranked #2 before.
Antonio Cromartie*DB
Florida State
6'2"
208
4.45
Top32
Pros:Tremendous height, and top attributes for his size. Great ball skills, and an all-around solid cover corner. Is able to play the run adequately as well, rare specimen for the CB position.Rank # 2 cb before injury
Cons:Injury history and doesn't have that much experience. Scouts are also wondering whether he can get back his speed from before the injury.

Our 2nd round
Projects to Guard in the NFL but reminds me of J Jennings in that he can play Tackle and is a mauler at guard as well. Nasty in the trenches as he was a former DT.Chris Vitarrelli is not the run or pass blocker we need.
Charles Spencer
Projected 6'5"
352
5.28
Pros:Versatile player with good size and wingspan. He converted from defensive line to play tackle and guard for the Panthers. Expected to be drafted at guard but may be able to move as needed. Cons:Needs much more experience and refinement. Gets by on physical attributes and hard work.

3 round
Now for the rotating DT#1
Pentrator, hard worker high motor, good character.....sound fimilar?
Will be part of a DT rotation from day one.

Johnathe Lewis DT
Height: 6-1 1/8 | Weight: 309 | 40-Time: 5.05 Official Bio
Strengths:
Has a solid and compact build...Very disruptive and excels at getting into and making plays in the backfield...Explosive, quick and athletic...Has a good burst to close on the ball carrier...Moves well and makes plays laterally...Smart and locates the ball well...Tough player with good strength...Unyielding and has a motor that never quits...Is experienced and durable...Works hard and is a team leader.

Weaknesses:
Doesn't have the height you look for...Has major trouble when he has to go head-to-head against massive offensive lineman...Struggles to hold his ground at the point of attack and is not a great run defender...Really lacks a wide base to anchor...Needs to hit the weight room and strengthen his lower-half...Probably needs to be in the right type of defensive scheme to succeed in the pros.

Notes:
Didn't get a lot of attention but Lewis was one of the best interior defensive linemen in the country...Was very consistent throughout his career...Would fit in best with a team that prefers smaller defensive tackles that can penetrate.

3 round (2nd one)
Poor mans Nagata.....would the real one been able to play 4downs in the NFL all game?
Can back up triplett as well as rotate in the other DT spot.
Defensive Tackle | Senior | Tennessee

Jesse Mahelona DT
Height: 6-0 1/2 | Weight: 311 | 40-Time: 5.05 Official Bio (http://www.hokiesports.com/football/players/2005/lewis.j.html)

Strengths:
Explosive penetrator who excels at making plays in opponents backfields...An outstanding pass rusher...Is very quick and a good athlete...Shows pretty good strength...Has great instincts and locates the ball well...Good range and can make plays laterally...Works hard and has an excellent motor...Was very productive during his two years at the DI level...Still improving and has some potential.

Weaknesses:
Has only average size and needs to continue to get bigger...Will get pushed around and does not hold up real well versus the run...Is not really a great tackler...Struggles head-to-head against massive offensive linemen...Will focus too much on rushing the passer at times...Does not shed blocks well...Technique needs overall refinement...Might need to be in the right scheme to succeed.

Notes:
Originally from Hawaii...Burst onto the scene as a junior for the Volunteers after transferring from Orange Coast Community College...Classic one-gapper who is among the very best pass rushing interior defensive linemen in the draft.

4th (From Houston)

We make a statement with this pick...to say Eric good luck but we are rebuilding and you where expendible...so IN YO FACE!!! He may not last this long but one guy allways slips through and the guys who are desparate will pick WR early...but he is a good blocker and a different type of reciever then the speedsters we have.

Other Possibilities...pass rush specialist.

Maurice Stovall WR
Height: 6-4 3/8 | Weight: 217 | 40-Time: 4.61 Official Bio (http://und.collegesports.com/sports/m-footbl/mtt/stovall_maurice00.html)

Strengths:
Has tremendous size and knows how to use his large frame...Has great body control and can make the acrobatic catch...Leaper who will go up and get the ball at its highest point...Strong and physical...Willing blocker who does a tremendous job in that area...Not afraid to go over the middle...A bit of a long strider who is deceptively fast...Came through with a huge senior season under Charlie Weis.

Weaknesses:
Lacks elite speed / quickness and may have trouble separating from DB's at the next level...Didn't really emerge and play up to his potential until recently...Needs to keep his weight in check like he did as a senior...Will not do much in terms of yards after the catch...Will have concentration lapses...Doesn't seem to have natural hands and will drop some balls...Might only be a posession receiver.

Notes:
Could potentially bulk up and become a tight end or H-Back in the pros...With his size and ability this guy can be a terror to cover in the red zone...Intriguing prospect whose stock is on the rise thanks to a breakout season in 2005.

Just so you know, the draft value chart states Buffalo's #8 overall pick is worth 1400 points. Denver's 15th and 22nd overall picks are worth a combined 1830 points. The bottom line is Denver probably will not make that trade without Buffalo forking over 400+ points to even out the deal. That's going to perhaps take both Buffalo's 3rd round picks in exchange for Denver's 4th round pick. That's going to screw up your mock big time.

nice work, ace. I like stovall at notre dame(irish fan), but I could only see him as a marcus robinson type player in this league. I'd rather they try and draft that wr from hofstra.

a few issues;

1. Lewis and Maholena in rd 3. Lewis is a solid pick but Maholena is an uneeded pick. That would give 7 or 8 DT's on the roster and I think Anderson is a plenty capable 3rd DT, would be a bad starting DT but if only plays 10-15 snaps a game he'll be good.

2. Stovall is a 2nd-3rd round pick no way he slips to round 4.

Also I dont see the trade happening

Even if you disagree with the picks, make a note. Mahelona, Lewis and a couple other DT's have some real ability and offer value in the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

That's why I'm not looking at Bunkley or Ngata too seriously at #8. In a 3-4 man rotation, you don't need to pay a DT Franchise $$ when he's on the sidelines for maybe 30-40% of the defensive plays.

Bingo.

The best draft value for both OL and DL is in rds 2-3-4. Guess where we have 3 picks? 4 if you count the Moulds deal.

Guys I want with our first pick-- Ferguson, Leinart, AJHawk, Mario Williams (Ok they will all be gone) Huff, Trade down, Jimmy Williams, NGata (allthough he's not going to fit the scheme aparently), then maybe Vernon Davis

That's pretty much how I look at it. Our desired targets are Williams, Ferguson,Hawk,Huff, maybe Davis. If they're all gone, we hope the phone rings for an opportunity to trade down. If not, then it becomes tricky.

I just can't see drafting a rotation DT at #8. Makes no sense when quality is evident into the 2nd and 3rd round.
