And where did this come from?

Why would the Texans give us a pick that high for a guy we are going to cut anyway???

Someone on here said they heard a 5th on ESPN. That's wayyyyy more realisitc.

Anyone familiar with Bob Matthews should know he's a Class A dolt who screws up many reports. I'd take that info at face value.

I hope he's right for once.

Three 3rd rounders would be amazing! Now that would be how you build a team through the draft...

It was me and it was John Clayton who said it on Saturday. No way we get a 3rd!! We will get a 5th.

Is there a chart that says which round is which pick? Been looking all over for one. Or are they just waiting till all deals are done before the draft?

We might as well just pay him and let him play if all we're going to get is a 5th... Unless we do a Saints-Dolphins trade which depends on performance, and we get compensated if Moulds does well...

A 5th is way better than nothing. We have no leverage. Believe me a 4th would be an excellent deal but why would the Texans do that?! There are no other serious takers. Last year Jacksonville helped press the Travis trade. The Eagles have already gone on record that their interest was luke warm.

4th

A Texans 5th is really a late 4th already. They aren't giving a 4th and Levy has already gone on record that he doesn't want to screw Eric or have this drag out!!

Hey Ace, didn't someone about Friday or so post something to the effect that if it were just the 4th rounder it would have been done by now? Hummmmm....:beers:

I was thinking the same thing. And Bob is right, they do have 2 3rd rounders, If we could get one of those, I'd toss in our 7th rounder.

Your right on there, (3) third rounders would give us almost immediate help on the lines. This draft is very deep on lineman so we might really end up better than I thought this year after all. I am started to get excited, a little.

I dont understand what you mean explain..? I posted something on thurs or fri saying that if it was just the 4th rounder then this would be done already. I didn't doubt marv was going after pick #66.

I think we will settle for the 1st pick in the 4th round to get this done. Personally I could live with the 5th rounder as long as we moved from the 9th pick in the 3rd to the 2nd pick (Swap picks)

Why does everyone think we have no leverage? If they don't agree to what we want, Eric sits all year. Then no one gets any use out of him.

Agreed.

Besides, I think we do have some leverage, at least with Houston because a trade might be the only chance they have to get Moulds. If he's cut he might prefer to go to the Eagles. They've said they have no interest in a trade but I think they did noy say they were'nt interested in Moulds at all.

I don't get it either. and Teams DO have players get hurt in preseason/ though the first 6 weeks of the season. We don't have to do spit with eric but let him rot at this point.

Houston will end up giving us a decent pick and we can finally move the hell on

Why does everyone think we have no leverage? If they don't agree to what we want, Eric sits all year. Then no one gets any use out of him.

Because Eric shows up and he gets paid. No matter what he does or doesn't do on the field, he'll force the Bills hand into cutting him. I've said this before, sure, he can be suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, that's 4 games. He'll still get paid for the 12 others of doing nothing. So in essence, you trade him to get something. However I heard/read with changes in the new CBA the players have even more rights, so who knows how you'd even suspend a guy like this and take away his pay.

That is how Eric has almost all the leverage.

He reports to camp and week 1...he gets paid....simple as that.

He gets suspended for conduct detrimental to team, he gets paid....other than the 4 week off no pay slap in the wrist.

He sits at home and plays tiddly winks after week 1, he gets paid.

He rubs one out thinking of teeny boppers at prom, he gets paid.

Unfortunately, this is the way the NFL works. Players have TONS of rights and a union that fights for anything and everything. So where do the Bills have leverage in any of this exactly?

Houston has been looking for a compliment to Johnson and I highly doubt that they would let it slip away just because we want at least a 4th. On the other hand, we have plenty of cap room to keep Moulds and he can sit a year. He would then be 34 years old and have no bargaining power. Now tell me which team sounds like they have leverage? Umm, to me it sounds like the Bills...if they play their cards right.

I feel that we maybe turing the corner now via this draft. We really could build a marv nucleus for some years to come if this draft turns out to be what it is being billed as.

everybody on here needs to avoid slashing their wrists if it turns out to be a deal for the fourth. it's a prime pick: the first one of day 2. the personnel people (and the message board people!) have all night to argue about whom to pick.

According to the Fox affiliate in Houston, they report that the Texans has signed Moulds to a 4 yr, 14 million dollar deal. The Texans have to reach a draft deal with the Bills, on which pick we give them for him though. Moulds and his agents say they just need to dot the i's and cross the t's.

Agreed. There are always TONS of steals in the beginning of day 2. I always check out Kiper's Big Draft Board and see all the big names that are still there.
