FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- A month after being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs, cornerback Eric Warfield has hooked up with the New England Patriots.

Shopping for a veteran after releasing Tyrone Poole and Duane Starks, the Patriots signed Warfield on Monday.

Financial terms were not disclosed.

Warfield, 30, spent the first eight years of his career with the Kansas City Chiefs before being released in March. Last season, he started 10 of 11 games at right cornerback and recorded 63 tackles, returned an interception 57 yards for a touchdown and defensed seven passes.

The Patriots started Starks, Poole and Randall Gay at right cornerback and each ended up on injured reserve, forcing them to use rookie Ellis Hobbs at the position late in the season. Hobbs and Warfield will likely compete for the starting spot in 2006.

Too bad they are shopping JP. He tore Warfield a new ass this last year.

Warfield is just a patch. I still see the Pats going after a CB in the draft.
