Franchise/Transition Tenders
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
SportsTicker

An NFL franchise player must receive at least a one-year
offer equal to the average of the top five salaries at
his position or 120 percent of the player's salary the
previous year, whichever is greater.

A transition player must receive at least a one-year
offer equal to the average of the top 10 salaries at
his position or 120 percent of the player's salary the
previous year, whichever is greater.

The following are the one-year franchise/transition
average tenders by position:

Linebacker $5.614 million $4.845 million

Wide receiver $5.010 million $4.538 million

This is bad news for Takeyo Spikes lovers. It is probably cheaper for Mike Brown to tag Spikes tha to pay him what he's worth.

So- you want a $5million 2nd WR?

Heh, Riemersma wouldn't be Franchise or Transition tagged... He's got a year left on his contract.

Yeah, but he's making franchise type money for a TE. He needs to be cut at worst or very seriously renegotiate his contract towards $1M.

Wys, I agree with you buddy... JR is way overpaid for the spotty catching and blocking he give us... 1mil-2mil is all he's worth... especially if Gilbride isn't going to use him as a “seam-rout” threat.

Riemersma's 2003 figures are a $3.5 Mil salary and a $1,370,000 Bonus. In the most recent Shout! newspaper, Riemersma said "You heard a lot about me net being willing to help out on the salary cap. I was willing to give back two million (dollars). That wasn't enough in their eyes."

$4.53 is not beyond the realm of possibilities for Price.
