    Interesting blurb on Aaron Gibson

    Bears | Gibson Could Return
    Wed, 2 Mar 2005 14:00:08 -0800
Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears could re-sign OL Aaron Gibson if he tests the open market and doesn't find a starting job with another club this year. "He wants to be a starter, so we're not going to make an offer to Aaron because we're not looking at Aaron as the starter, so it's a moot point," general manager Jerry Angelo said. "He understands that and if he can't get what he wants, maybe we'll revisit it."

Shortly afterward he spent the year out of football. I wonder why?

Hopefully he spent a year away to get his weight under control.

Not quite, Verba was "claiming" to be one of the top 5 tackles in football.

But yeah it looks like for either of them it was, "either I start or I'm not playing."

Sounds like Gibson is another big, fat, lazy slob like Mike Williams, except that we don't have a first round pick invested in him - so there's really no risk for us.

If he's serious about playing, maybe he'll push himself away from the dinner table and head for the weight room. If not, he'll be out of football again.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

Jamie Nails gave the Dolphins a couple of solid seasons once he figured it out. Hopefully we're on the right side of this type of transaction for a change.

Didn't the reports have him considerably lighter than his previous obese weight?

I don't understand how someone could be such a lazy slob that they couldn't keep their weight somewhat under control instead of losing millions of dollars.

I haven't seen any reports, but I sort of fgured he must have gotten a handle onn his weight issues. I would want him under 350 if he has any thoughts of making a significant contribution to a team.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I did some surfing around the internet, and he is listed all over the board. The lightest I've seen is 360 and the heaviest is 425. He is the first NFL player to hit 400 pounds. Our official site has him at 371. I think his ideal playing weight would probably be around 360. He's 6'7" so it's not too bad.

I thought I read that in Chicago he was well over 400, and that he had lost a lot of weight. Thanks.

perhaps maybe we can convert him to DT to plug up the middle of the line
