Won't Golisano have to sell the Sabres to buy the Bills? I think the NFL made a rule where an owner can only own one franchise...Boy its tough being rich

You sure about that? I cant remember who, but I remember as recently as just a few short years ago the guy who owned the Pistons also owned another team. I think it was the Pistons anyway

I thought Wayne Huizinga had to sell the Marlins because of the rule...I think the one exception is Glazer the owner of he Bucs. He also own Manchester United I believe but since they do not compete whatsoever it was ruled it was OK.

Huizenga actually was the benefactor of the relaxation of the original rule on cross-ownership.

They can own multiple franchises in the same market (i.e. Sabres and Bills) or another franchise in a different market as long as that market doesn't have an NFL team. (Ralph Wilson could also own the San Jose Sharks, but not the Detroit Red Wings.)

BTW---That's why Jacobs can't be majority owner of the Bills...His other franchise, the Bruins, is in the same market as the Patriots.
