    Football Talk Here- Bills RBs

I've been lurking here the last couple of days...and it has been pretty depressing. I think football talk is much more entertaining than talk of gloom and doom and the Bills moving. Debating about multi-millionaire owners is futile, they will do whatever they please. I rather discuss millionaire players.

Anyways, has anyone seen Fred Jackson playing in NFL Europe? He looks to have decent speed, good size (6' !" 210 lbs.) and great hands. If his blocking skills are any good, I wouldn't mind seeing him as possibly the Bills third down back and the third string RB. Shaud Williams is OK, but I would like the Bills to take a look at Jackson in training camp. Plus with his size, Jackson may be used on special teams as well.

I think the Bills need to address the backup RB situation on the first day of the draft. With the Bills' question marks at QB, I think the running game will be very important in 2006. If there isn't a OL or DL in the third round available whom can step right in and start from Day 1, I wouldn't mind the Bills taking a look at Joseph Addai, Maurice Drew, Gerald Riggs, or Humes from VT.

Remember Kevin Everett in your thoughts.

Agreed. Addai has really caught Polians eye as well as the Panthers.

I wouldn't be surprised to see the Bills grab a RB on day 1, if a guy they really are high on drops into their lap.

Williams isn't a viable option as a regular back-up RB, IMO, so I'd like to see someone else step up into the role.

I think we're all forgetting that Lionel Gates is a pretty good football player and just may take the primary backup role from Williams.

With our needs at O and D line and Safety, I think we wait until mid-second day to take a RB.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

            .

He may be a good football player, we just don't know. He never got on the field thanks to the "win now" fiasco.

Both Fred Jackson and Lionell Gates seem to be pretty similar, big guys with some speed. I would hope that there is as much of a competition for back up running back as there is supposed to be for QB. Shaud Williams is a player but he's not big enough to drive ahead carrying tacklers and doesn't really have much speed to get outside. The holes have to be there for Shaud to do anything. Last season, too often, they weren't. I would be surprised to see Buffalo draft RB on day one though.
I've made up my mind. Don't confuse me with the facts.

I'm the most reasonable poster here. If you don't agree, I'll be forced to have a hissy fit.

I think and hope Lionel Gates gets the backup job this year I liked what I saw from him last year at training camp and pre-season.

I think we will address RB in round 7 with Selvin Young from Texas.

Shaud seems to be emerging as a receiver out of the backfield, but isn't much of a threat to tote the rock up the middle...strictly a 3rd long type of player.
Gates has some potential and is probably closer to being a threat to Shaud than Jackson.
There are a lot of intriguing RB's out there that will be available early day 2.
