    Small market team

Why is it that the Green Bay Packers are doing so well? Are they in a pretty small market too?

Oh? So the problem isn't because we're a small market team. It's because we suck??

They aren't that good. They are drafting ahead of us.

But the Pack is the only publicly-owned franchise. Something the NFL does not allow, but grandfathered in for Green Bay, so it's not an option for Buffalo.

I should also point out that Packer fans sell out Lambeau Field no matter what, unlike Bills fans who vanish when the team goes 3-13. Even when the Bills are competitive, it takes up to game time to sell out a game.

the Pack are a total different business model. People in the community buy shares in the team (and it's the only NFL team that's allowed to function that way). Consequently, profits become second to winning and it changes the whole nature of the organization. Obviously the Pack can't LOSE money, but they don't have some greedy owner trying to line his pockets first and win second.

Green Bay is among the higher revenue earning teams in the NFL, despite playing in the smallest market.

So again, how are they doing that? Clearly they didn't sell the naming rights of Lambeau Field....

The Packers have been very agressive in marketing themselves nationally. They have new media deals. They have renovated their stadium to get more use out of it. They are making a lot of money.

Keep in mind, Lambeau field is so famous that it is worth more than it would be without selling naming rights. They built an addition to the stadium called The Atrium as part of the renovation, which is open year-round and caters to fans interests. They basically have marketed their brand agressively and in creative ways.

You can read about the Packers finacial situation HERE and HERE.

Farve alone gets them 3 night games nationally a year. The bills don't have a decent QB on the roster as of now.
