For those of you crying about overpaying players...

Who gives a crap? It's not like we're up against the cap! And the cap is going to increase significantly over the next few years.

    So chill!!!

    i agree.

if a guy signs a 4 year, 10 million dollar contract, it means that he is taking up 1% of the salary cap.. and we would hardly feel any effect if we cut them.

yup...I am sure PP's contract is incentive laden and pretty back loaded...if he doesn't make it then it should cost us little...the NFLPA will probably prove me wrong though.

Veteran minimums are up with the new agreement so the old thoughts of what players cost has been upped. I don't see the Bills doing much over paying on anyone they signed

With the new cap, the average player on a 53 man roster is making 2 Mil a year.

If you read beyond the headines, the actual salary/cap hits with some of these recent signings are well below 2 Mil this season. If they're expected to contribute, that's cheap. Some may not make it out of camp, so they're actual contract numbers mean little.

Agreed, I don't see what the big deal is.

Yeah and we were 14.5 under the cap after we traded moulds. Everyone sees 10 mill and says 'he takes up 2.5 mill per'. Pure stupidity and I say stupidity because they should know better

10/4= 2.5 million per season. If that were 1%, the cap would be $250 million a season.

It's not that they're overpaying players- it's the players they're choosing to overpay. Why are we overpaying 2 receivers when there are 9 on the roster? If we're going to overpay, why not overpay for OL and DL help? I just don't get it.

                      My sentiments exactly.

Somehow I feel that if TD was still the GM and we had the exact same offseason the fans would be erupting with hate and anger. Because it's Marv they are singing a different tune.

They're lowballing players in positions we need, but have no problem overpaying players in positions where we have too many players. Not to mention that the receivers don't matter if we can't protect the QB long enough for him to throw the ball.

Reed blows and was a stupid signing. Aiken is a good ST player and not bad as a receiver. Jonathan Smith hasn't had many chances as WR and when he has he's held his own (ie TD against the Jets).

If this is your logic, though, how do you defend Price? He peaked his third year in the league and it's been downhill ever since.
