David Pittman anyone?

Strengths: Is a smooth and fluid athlete. Shows fluid hips and very quick feet. Possesses adequate top-end speed and is able to turn-and-run quickly without losing much in transition. He shows good natural instincts and a nose for the ball. Is a playmaker with very good ball skills. Has been dangerous on returns. Lacks size and strength, but is aggressive and physical in run support. Takes solid angles and has developed into a decent open-field tackler. Will lower his shoulder when he can and will cut legs out from underneath bigger ball carriers when he must. Has been a special teams standout and shows potential in that facet in the NFL. Has a knack for blocking kicks.

Weaknesses: Lacks ideal size. Has just decent height and below average bulk. He will let bigger receivers dictate routes. He will struggle to make plays in traffic in the NFL and will be a target in the red zone. He shows a tendency to gamble and will get caught peeking on occasion. He has adequate but not great top-end speed. Won't be able to make up for mistakes in the NFL nearly as easily as he did at the D-II collegiate level. He supports the run hard but lacks the size and strength to be as effective at the next level. Will get washed out too easily by bigger blockers and run over more frequently by bigger ball carriers.

Overall: Pittman redshirted in 2001, when he underwent surgery on the MCL in his left knee. He emerged as a fulltime starter as a redshirt freshman in 2002, finishing with 55 tackles, six broken up passes and one interception. Pittman started every game as a sophomore in 2003 and finished with 55 tackles, seven PBU and four interceptions. He missed two games as a junior in 2004 with a dislocated elbow, but he still finished with 28 tackles, eight PBU and five interceptions that season. Pittman started all 10 games as a senior in 2005 and finished with 36 tackles, nine PBU and one interception. Over the course of his four-year career, Pittman notched 11 interceptions, four defensive touchdowns (three interception returns, one blocked field goal return) and two blocked kicks. Pittman lacks ideal size and likely will never be more than a sub-package slot cover corner in the NFL. However, he possesses excellent quickness, adequate speed and impressive overall playmaking skills. Pittman will need to make a significant jump from the small-school college level to the NFL, but he shows enough confidence and toughness to handle the challenge. If nothing else, Pittman warrants consideration in the final three rounds of the 2006 draft because of his playmaking skills in coverage and on special teams.

I have never seen anyone come back from the microfracture surgery that they are doing. It somehow in theory is supposed to get cartlidge growing again. We have lost a couple of Bills to this procedure. I wonder what the success rate is.

I have to wonder...how do you release an Unrestricted Free agent? BillsDaily seems to be getting sloppy...they've even got him listed as a free agent on their front office page :cynic:
