After a lot of reading this morning, it is becoming obvious what teams are serious about their interest in players and what teams are full of sh**. Here are the smokescreens as I see them... feel free to add your own:
1. Texas interested in Mario Williams at #1
Ha! That one would have been hard to believe a month ago, and the Texans didn't even throw it out there until recently. Bush is going #1... that much we know. The question is, why Williams instead of Brick? Do they know something about NOLA's intentions? Something to think about.
2. Saints interested in Leinart
No way... you do not spend that kind of money of Brees only to use a pick like this on a frnachise QB. If they were going Leinart (or Young, or Cutler), then Drew Brees would be elsewhere. I know, many will say the deal gives them the chance to cut Brees loose after one year, but I still don't see it. Ideally, they want Brees to be their QB for many years to come.
3. Titans prefer Young
I don't buy this either. Leinart is the guy they want and they will do everything they have to do to get him.
4. Jets want a QB
This is the toughest of the bunch... they had Cutler in yesterday, and Young and Leinart in later this week. That's a lot of smoke... still, I think they'll look to address other needs and hope they can get Ramsey or Pennington to work out for this year.
My bet is that the Titans give the Saints a pick (future 2nd?) to move up a spot and get Leinart. That leaves the Saints deciding between Brick and Williams (I bet they go Brick), and the Jets taking what's left of the two at #4. If the Saints go Williams at #3, then we get on the phone with the Jets.
