SO the signing of Aaron Gibson received little hoopla, but does this signing have any significance? Is he going to have an impact on the organization besides making the equipment managers life a living hell? I think he has the potential to be quite a pickup if he stays healthy.

Agreed, but he has a lot of work to do and some luck needs to go his way.

Well they have 2 positions that he can play ...guard and RT. If he is in the best shape of his life then RT would be logical. However J Peters is there so a shuffle is in order. If that is the case we can pass on justice and draft a couple of guards only in this draft. Focus on deffense.

I expect him to get cut. If he makes the team, cool. If not, he's lived up to what I thought he'd do.

Agreed. Try him at Guard where we have our biggest need. If he doesn't pan out, you save on the food bill.

he's a long shot at best, but he's a cheap long shot.

He has a one year contract at about 500k. If he works out great, if not he will be cut in camp or left as a backup for the 06 season.

It's worth a chance IMO. I hope he could really turn things around and just play decent. We don't need him to be a world beater just a servicable T for us and I would be thrilled.

i hope he works out well because it will help offset the pain of mike williams becoming a perennial probowler in jax

He won't play much there. They have Maurice Williams and 1st rounder Khalif Barnes ahead of him right now. He will have to definitely "work" himself into the lineup. We all know that isn't him M.O.

The guy is a freakish beast with long arms. If he could get his act together and turn his career around to what it was supposed to be, it may make up for the M. Williams disaster.

exactly. he's about the same risk as the numerous other camp fodder players that get brought in every year. the guy clearly has size and athleticism, now he just needs to prove that he wants to put down the fork and play football. we have nothing to lose by offering him the chance, and a whole lot to gain if he pans out at either RT or G

He will get cut if he is a slob, if he dedicates himself u could see him filling the marcus price role

If he just shows up with a consistent solid effort, he'll be an improvement over most of our 2005 OL backups. I say he definitely makes the team.

As to how much he contributes, well, that depends on him apparently.

We took a cheap shot, if it works out fantastic.....but im not holding my breath. Ill be pulling for the guy though.

I think we should stick him at guard unless he proves to better than gandy and or peters. See how he plays there he cant be any worse than the two we have now specifically Anderson.

I wonder if Gibson could be a jumbo Center for goal line situations?

I'm rooting for the guy...both for the team's sake and his own. I hope he gets his stuff together and can play well enough to start.

I dont know guys. If he is in good shape he could easily play and dominate at RT. His knock was stamina/weight if he has got that behind him he has the skill and played in Dick system. If J Peters doesnt sign long term before the draft we will find a LT and I believe move peters to the left for this year. Guards are alot easier to find then tackles. I hope the find 2 more road graders in this draft to put inside. Let them stack the line (Opposition) we have wrs that can fly...let them play deep....we can run over them. I think we need a late round flyer on a good back up RB also. willis gets winded alot.

If he makes the team it will be as a backup guard. He can't handle speed rushers and would make Mike Williams look like Anthony Munoz at tackle. But he could be nice depth at guard.

There usually arent speed rushes on the right side but hey you never know there is allways a first.

Let me keep it simpler: he's not a tackle.

When you have a REALLY good speed rusher, you alter what side of the field the speed rusher comes from. I think Indy did it with Dwight Freeney and Titans used to before Jevon Kearse went to Eagles.

Thats what he played in college thats what he play with jeron.

....and in shape could be dominant at the position for us as well.

We will see .....nosense in arguing if he will play somthing else or be a probowler or cut.

Next topic.

I disagree, he did play that in college, and in his shape, he is not going to be able to pull as much as guards usually are asked to. He has slimmed down and I've read reports that say hes in some of the best shape of his life, but I still think he'd be a better tackle than a guard based on his size and lack of agility and speed.
