Ravens and Eagles may move up for Ngata

The posts say if Ngata slid past the Bills. But Marv mentioned the player they like probably being 4 spots lower.

Ravens are at 13 and the Eagles are at 14. It would be great to get them in a bidding war for the 8 pick and Ngata who will be there.

            Heres the reports:

Browns | Hawk would need to drop to No. 8 for Savage to trade up
            Sun, 23 Apr 2006 10:08:50 -0700
Tony Grossi, of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, reports Ohio State LB A.J. Hawk would have to drop to at least No. 8 before Cleveland Browns general manager Phil Savage thinks about trading up to select him, according to one NFL team executive. The executive said, "Phil doesn't give up picks. [Hawk] would have to drop to at least No. 8 to give them any shot. And that is not going to happen."

All 3 teams are talking about the 8 pick. That could put us sitting pretty for a trade down.

            Heres Levys comments:

If you trade down will it be because you want more players that come cheaper?
ML: "It won't be a move to cheapen the price we pay for players if we move down. It would be a move down if at 8 there's no one that really knocks us out any more than a guy we can get four spaces later. That's what would motivate us."

I think we are gonna make the trade. So what can we get in return? Well:

The 8 pick is worth 1400 points (value chart) http://www.theredzone.org/2005/draft...valuechart.asp

The 13 pick is worth 1150
The 14th pick is worth 1100

Now, that means the team moving up needs to fess another 300 point pick or so.

The pick worth 300 points unfortunately is the 2nd rounder, 60th overall. The problem is the Ravens and Eagles 2nd rounders are the 44th and 45th. Each is worth around 460 and 450 points respectively.

So, it would seem that if they move up, its would be unlikely we'd get there 2nd rounders but more like there 3rd and a later pick. Unless of course soemone wants to move really bad.

If that happens, the Bills could land the guy they want at 13 or 14 and another early 2nd rounder where the depth of the draft on the OL is likely to be taken.

Don't believe the hype: Hawk won't fly Browns' way

Just about every player projected to be taken in the top 10 spots in the draft has suffered moments of free-fall anxiety. Such is the nature of the drawn-out NFL draft process. The longer you look at a jewel, the likelier you are to imagine imperfections.

First it was Texas quarterback Vince Young who was supposed to fall out of the top 10.

Then it was USC running back Reggie Bush who suddenly was being nudged aside as the top pick in the draft.

Most recently, Ohio State linebacker A.J. Hawk has been the subject of "how far could he drop?" speculation.

It's tantalizing to fantasize about Hawk falling just low enough for Browns General Manager Phil Savage to do something creative and move up and snatch him. Cleveland fans would be ecstatic.

                But don't hold your breath.

The two KFFL sources make me think that both teams have contacted Buffalo about moving down and they have said no thank you. Or else why would they need to wait till after the #8 pick? Wouldnt they want a deal in place for the #8 pick. Im begining to wonder if a trade down is even on the minds of Levy and Co.

some trades can only happen on draft day just for reasons like that. i must be missing what ur saying

Yes completely agree but the reports say

"If DT Ngata falls past the Buffalo Bills at 8" which shows me that Buffalo has no interest at this time in trading down, and of course subject to change come Saturday.

I think the Ravens and Eagles (after consulting the points chart for Draft trades) are both looking at giving up their first and their third to move up.

Waiting until the 9th pick of the draft makes the points line up. Otherwise, they have to give up too much for NGata- which probably isn't worth it.

I think it is, but I think marv and Tom are going to 'wait and see'. In other words what if another team offers more as Oakland is picking?

I personally want to move down a few spots and pick up another 2nd rounder. That would help our team GREATLY. We could address LT, LG, DT all in the first two rounds. the problem is, how far do you go and lose guys you really want? I am leery of moving down to like 17th with the vikings. There is an outside chance we can lose Justice, Winston, Bunkley and Ngata with a move down that far.

I just don't see any moves like that out of our guys until that day.

                          What do you think?

Here is the thing, I don't think Marv sticks to the 'Chart'. As a new GM he has several needs that can be addressed in this draft. The More picks the better. So maybe the chart says a teams first, second, and fourth round picks to move up. I think marv says First and second only not to push anything at this point.

Being new I have to wonder how hard he is going to push? I would guess not much.
