About.com recently held their annual GM Mock Draft, and here are the results for the Buffalo Bills.....
Picks
1st Round (4) - Mario Williams DE NC St.
The Buffalo Bills make a surprising draft day move that shocked many experts when they traded with the New York Jets not for LT D'Brickashaw Ferguson (who was selected by the Saints at #2), but rather LE Mario Williams from North Carolina St. Williams will enter camp as the favorite for the starting LE position opposite Aaron Schobel and will be looked to make an immediate impact on the Bills D-line.
3rd Round (70) (from Tennessee) - Jeremy Trueblood OT Boston College
With their first pick in the 3rd round, the Buffalo Bills address the Offensive Line and select the giant Offensive Tackle out of Boston College in Jeremy Trueblood. Trueblood is a big Offensive Tackle who has the ability to dominate his opponents, and will add solid depth to the Tackle positions. With the ability to learn from Offensive Line coach Jim McNally, Trueblood should become a great player for the Bills, potentially starting very soon.
3rd Round (73) - Jon Alston LB Stanford
The Buffalo Bills, with their second pick in the round, decided to address not necessarily an area of need but an area that could use depth. With London Fletcher's and Jeff Posey's contracts set to expire after this year, on top of the increasing age of the linebacker corp, the Bills decided to bring some youth to the position by drafting Jon Alston out of Stanford. Alston will be relied upon to bring some quality depth to the Weakside Linebacker position and will be a significant force on special teams this year.
4th Round (105) - Dusty Dvoracek DT Oklahoma
Wanting to add more depth along the Defensive line, the Buffalo Bills select Dusty Dvoracek out of Oklahoma. Dusty should fit right in with the Buffalo Bills Defensive Line rotation and be a solid contributer his rookie year. He will most likely also see action on one of the best special teams units in the league.
5th Round (134) (from Houston) - Mike Hass WR Oregon St.
While many people think the Bills have addressed the WR position enough in Free Agency, apparently the Bills want to make sure that they have quality depth at the position and use the pick acquired from Houston to draft a solid player in Mike Hass. Hass was origininally a walk-on at Oregon St. but showed great passion and conviction that made him one of the top receivers in college football, winning an award for his dominant play. Hass is a great addition to the Bills and they're glad to have him.
5th Round (143) - Adam Stenavich OG Michigan
The Buffalo Bills sought to add more depth to what was somewhat of a disheveled offensive line when they selected Stenavich out of Michigan. A qualit y guard for Michigan, Stenavich will have the chance to learn from McNally and become a dominant OG for the Buffalo Bills. He joins Jeremy Trueblood as another offensive line position selected in this draft.
6th Round (178) - DJ Shockley QB Georgia
The Buffalo Bills decided to throw in another QB into the competition when they selected the talented DJ Shockley in the 6th Round. While not likely to compete for the starting job this year, the Bills consider Shockley to project as a quality QB who could one day start for the Bills. Very raw after having only played one season as the starter at Georgia, this is a steal for the Bills in terms of talent, and hopefully Dick Jauron and Steve Fairchild can turn Shockley into a quality QB for the Bills.
7th Round (216) - Derrick Martin CB Wyoming
With Nate Clements having been franchised by the Bills, the Bills add some quality depth with this late round steal. A player with good leaping ability and a solid cover corner, Martin will see action as a rookie mostly on Special Teams, but could make his way into the Dime or Nickel sets for the Bills. The Bills feel they got great value here in Martin and look for him to become a potential late round playmaker.
7th Round (248) *Comp. Pick - Pat Ross OC Boston College
Ross joins his fellow Boston College teammate Jeremy Trueblood on the Buffalo Bills. Having replaced Dan Koppen at center when he left for the NFL, Ross is a very good center who is a definite steal at 248. Ross will start his career most likely as depth at Center or at the very least on the practice squad, with the potential to become a dominant player for the Bills under Offensive Line Coach Jim McNally. A great pick-up for the Bills and a great way to end the 2006 Draft.
