I'll go with Dale Jarrett #88. He's my mother, sister, bro-in-law, and nephew's favorite :chuckle:

I always root for Jeff Gordon cuz they hate him :snicker:

Try watching a sport that actually requires some athletic ability:D.

Race care drivers are every bit of the word athlete, and, in fact, they epitomize the definition of an athlete. They could not perform on the level that they do week-in and week-out and be anything other than that.

i find it ironic that a fan of horse racing would say that auto racing is not a sport requiring athletic ability.

Lighten up, BM80....you can bet on auto racing too.:D

Rednecks!

Where's the selection for "some redneck that butchers the english language yet can name every sponser of his car in the first 30 seconds of the interview while hugging his trophy wife because if he didn't make that kind of money he'd still be living in a swamp and she'd be with a doctor or lawyer"??

It's a lot more fun that sitting in front of a TV watching cars go 'round an oval track.

Sorry, the only way watching Neck-car would be more exciting than playing curling would be if Mrs. Eb were standing naked next to the TV.

Those of you who are actually interested, click here for the lineup (http://www.nascar.com/races/wc/2003/1/data/lineup.html)

Jeff Green edged out little E by 0.058 of a second to take the pole.

The Butt Pirate starts 29th:snicker:

Hey, whoever says horse racing isn't a sport and jockey's aren't athletes, at least Horse Racing is decided by some athletic ability, albiet a horse's ability, and a jockey actually has to be a good athlete to do his job. You try being a jockey...good luck.

I hope that you're not trying to say that racers aren't athletes?

For ANYBODY who thinks it doesn't take athletic ability to be a racecar driver, I'd like to see them run at them speeds inside a cockpit of about 120 degress for 400+ miles, with 42 cars on the track. One little mistake could take the life of another driver or themself.

He can still move up though. They still have to run the Twin 125's to determine the rest of the positions. Green and Earnhardt will keep their front row, but the rest of the field is still wide open.

I wish they ended it now, Jarrett would be running off in the 4th row.

I can't wait to hear them words "GENTLEMEN START YOUR ENGINES" this Sunday.

PA....the early word is that DJ can make a serious run for the championship this year.

Three teams roll out backup cars
Associated Press

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- Jeff Burton, Elliott Sadler and Mike Skinner will switch to backup cars after a crash Tuesday proved just how risky even practice for the Daytona 500 can be.

The five-car crash came on the front straightaway of the 2½-mile oval with about four minutes left in the 60-minute practice, the only Winston Cup track time on the day's schedule.

PA....the early word is that DJ can make a serious run for the championship this year.

I think his best days are behind him. He had a great run from 96-2001, but I don't think he'll be a serious contender. He'll win a couple races, but I see him finishing between 4-10 in the point standings. He'll still run towards the top most of the time, but not enough to win it all again.

I started watching NASCAR when Joe Gibbs bought into racing. I started watching Jarrett just because his team had an NFL connection. He's the only driver I've ever liked. Remember when he wore a different NFL helmet for every race?

We got our points championship in 99'. I was happy to see him finally get it. He was a late bloomer in the racing scene. He didn't start doing good till he was in his early 40's.

I've only ever been to 1 race. I went to the RIchmond nite race in 99'. It couldn't have worked out any better. It was a week after my 21st birthday, first race I was ever at, and Jarrett beat out Martin to win the race, and later went on to win the championship.

He's not one of the top drivers anymore, but he is far from washed up. I wouldn't consider 8th in the point standings as washed up. He also won like 3 races.
