come on.. i mean i know he has some supposed character issues.. but this guy could have and is clearly talented enough to have been a first round pick..

Absolutely, everytime I hear that draft chime, I look up expecting Wright to be taken ahead of us...

It's alot more then character issues on Wright. He wasn't productive in college. Took plays off and then the character issues add to not being drafted til late in the draft. He has alot of physical tools you look for but I'm not suprised he has fallen because frankly he hasn't done anything in college. His whole college career has been about potential not production. With that said I wouldn't mind taking a chance on him this late.

Shows how much we (especially me) were accurate on this draft.

I had WRight in my mock going to the Bills.. at Pick 42. lol

I also had the Bills taking Rob Sims and DT JOhnathan Lewis in round three.

ALL Three are still on the board.

how about Matua?

Wright may be lucky to get picked at this point, the off and on the field issues are costing him dearly in the eyes of NFL Personell.

Matua, Jacobs are regretting leaving early now. Ill take Matua, Jacobs, Quillen with our last three picks. I think Omar is a great pick esp now bc he will have a chip on his shoulder coming here.

How about we convert Jacobs to a WR, he is 6'4'', 230...

adam shine on sirius asked him the other day during that great interview that i hear w/ wright "what happens if you dont get picked until day 2?"

wrights response was "there is no way that will happen.. i cant even think about that.. i am as good as any dt in the draft"..

if nothing else.. maybe this will be a hugely humbling experience that he will use to light a fire under his ass for the rest of his career.. if he has one?

Well since a lot of posters here think Miami has so many "bad guys" I guess it makes sense that we use our 7th round pick to pick up Wright

He though Miami was a good place to live and not get in trouble. That is enough of a character issue for me. ;)

His pre-draft quote was very Thurman Thomas like:
"I'm already coming into the NFL with a chip on my shoulder. When I work out every day, when I run every day, I have a chip on my shoulder because I feel like I have something to prove. And even if I was the No. 1 DT come Draft Day, I still have something to prove. I want to have some teams (that pass me up) feel like they made a mistake if it comes down to it."

Lots of teams including Miami pased on him multiple times. It appears that many teams questioned his willingness to work.

Miami now has the Wright Brothers at DT.

so there's a problem with him coming in with a chip and wanting to prove to everybody that they may be wrong in their assumption? I imagine he's not the only player in the draft that has that attitude. Here I thought he kicked puppies for giggles.

He just is not motivated and thinks too highly of himself. Since he slipped that far, I have to think he failed a drug test or something. Not sure, but that is awfully far to fall if you're going to be any kind of player. He fits in well with the misfits in Miami.

wright apparently has a torn rotator cuff and needs surgery. i'll try to find a link, but that's why he fell to where he did. also, he played all last year with it, which seems crazy to me.

Kind of strange that he didn't know he had shoulder problems?

G. Host
04-30-2006, 09:14 PM
Not too strange. I had a problem with my leg for eight years that doctors were not able to figure out but finally a doctor did. In his case it is like the fat woman who did not know she was pregnant - other conditions cover up the problem and in this case he thought it was just general muscle soreness which did not interfere with his workouts.

But every team did not know about the problem so it was not just the unknown to him shoulder problem which made him drop.

thanks, dozer. i hope he can get motivated under saban. might this be the second DT named wright that nick makes cry? i guess if it helps him grow up...

it's true that it wasn't "just" the shoulder problem, but if you add that to a rep for taking plays off, you have a seventh rounder.

Wright is a very good pick in the seventh round no matter how you look at it.
