Day 1 draft sustains your team and Day 2 draft builds a team.
For the Bills, 2001, 2003, and 2004 classes are shaping up as those drafts providing good day 1 draft whereas 2000 and 2002 classes are complete misses, a big reason the Bills are where they are today.
But the big concern is that out of the stretch of 2000 to 2004 5-year period, the Day 2 draft produced only one single starter - Mcgee. To me that's the main reason we could not build the team into the top tier in NFL, teams who compete for playoffs.
2005's class is not ready for judgement so I left it out. I'm hoping that the 2006 class will eventually give us some starting materials from 4th round onwards. That would be a good start to get the Bills back on track.
