Thurman Thomas: named top draft bargin pick

Thurman Thomas gets a mention as one of the best every draft bargin picks!

Thanks to a serious knee injury he suffered at Oklahoma State, Thomas slipped to the Bills in the second round. He energized Buffalo's offense and helped form a nucleus that carried the Bills to four straight Super Bowls. He retired in 2001 ranking sixth all time in total yards from scrimmage (16,532) and ninth in rushing (12,074). Thomas said the anger he felt at being bypassed in the first round was a key motivating factor in his rise to stardom.

No Andre Reed did not make the list.

I hope that list isn't in any kind of order...No way Smith gets ranked #1, Thomas deserves much higher, and Reed was drafted in '85, so he missed the list by one year.

Well I guess we will have to wait 12-14 years to see what they say about Whitner and McCargo.

Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

I don't think Beebe and Hansen could make the list. Don't get me wrong, I loved both players. Hanson was as good a number 2 DE as you could get, but he wasn't a "star." Beebe, the best 3rd WR in football hands down. Again, not a star.

Howard Ballard, on the other hand, was a stud, pro-bowl tackle. He should make the list.

So, I guess they update this list every season, as Andre was on the list just last year.

Beebe was not even a very good player.

Obviously this list isn't in order. Bruschi was only 7th.

Looking at that pic of TT made me weep. Oh the memories of having a winner in Buffalo.

I did not see the list last year.
I was thinking when I read the list that Andre should have been on it but did not notice it was for last 20 years only.

Without looking at the list, I'd guess that #1 (if it were put into order) would be TBrady, a 6th round QB who brings a team to the SB 3 out of 4 years should be on there no matter how much I can't stand him.

Here's the problem with lists like this. They apparently tend to believe or are skewed that anything over 10-20 years ago in NFL history doesn't exist or doesn't matter, one of the two.

Johnny U. drafted in the 9th round by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1955.
Roger Staubach in Round 10 in 1964 by the Cowboys.
Bart Starr drafted in the 17th round by the Packers in 1956.
Deacon Jones drafted in the 14th round in 1961.
Leroy Kelly in 1964 in Round 8.
Warren Moon was undrafted by an NFL team when he joined the Oilers in 1984.

BTW all these players above are HOFers.
