Buffalo is the city of no illusions and nearly as many major professional sports championships -- the odd minor-league baseball or pro lacrosse title notwithstanding. But if it continues to endure the NHL's Sabres and NFL's Bills, it must surely be a city of limitless faith.
At the moment there is much reason to believe. The Sabres, a young, anonymous hockey team that revels in being the underdog and seems to epitomize its blue-collar town, are a mere win away from eliminating the heavily favoured Ottawa Senators and clearing the way, perhaps, to another Stanley Cup final. Of course, there is also that lingering suspicion.
When I lose faith I am not going to even bother watching the sport!
First game all week I'll have chance to watch the game. Damn alternate work schedule.
