San Jose fans showed complete disrespect yesterday when they booed the Canadian anthem.

I hope Oiler fans have some more class on Wednesday and don't react in response to this complete disregard for a country's anthem.

There were a few idiot Sabre fans at the game last Thursday who were booing the Canadian National anthem too. :ill:

I sung with it and cheered wildly at the end.

That explains it Mikey,
They weren't booing the Canucks Anthem, they were booing your singing.

Not again....don't we go through this often enough to get these people to realize it's just plain disrespectful?

As happened in the past I think the Oiler faithful will cheer so loud that it will bring tears to your American eyes for the respect we show.

This is just really stupid... they're booing the anthem when more then likely 1/2 their team is Canadian!

Ah, we should just do away with national anthems at non-national team sporting events altogether...

I have to admit I was embarassed as a Sabres fan when I heard the booing last week. A few knuckleheads give us a bad name and show a complete disrespect to the country that brought us this great game. Now there are a few annoying canadians but you can say that about any country. I think the Canadian National Anthem is a great song (except if Mikey is singing it).

I haven't heard Mikey sing the Canadian Anthem.
We ought to have him record it and play it after every loss to remind us how painful losses can be.

This was more than a few drunken fans. The article went on to say that they actually drowned out the singer and you couldn't hear the words.

The vociferous booing Sunday night started from the opening notes of singer Annmarie Martin's rendition of "O Canada." While other fans attempted to drown it out by singing along, the boos were audible until the final notes.

Can you belive the Mayor of SJ tried again to say it was just a few rowdy fans?

Sheesh.

BTW Edmonton is planning on cheering the American anthem loud and proud and probably even sing a few bars.

Hey, on the bright side, at least the Islanders missed the playoffs this year and no one burned any flags! :D
