Am I being a racist when...
My favorite play this year was that idiot Jet running back getting hauled down behind the line of scrimmage BY HIS HAIR.
Cu2, IMO this hair thing has gotten beyond ridiculous to the point you not only can't see the guy's name on the back of their jersey, with some guys its even tough to see their NUMBER.
Now, I'm sure there's some sort of ****ing cultural significance to trailing around a yard of dreads, but this white guy just thinks it looks stupid. Sammy Watkins and Stephan Gilmore, I'm looking at you.
So sue me.
And the Samoans and Clay Matthews can get haircuts too.
I don't wanna see the first guy who looks like cousin Itt playing on my team...

Why Are So Many NFL Players Growing Really Long Hair?
...And some guys simply like the look.
“We were playing the University of Miami and I just saw the way they looked. … They were shaking their hair and I was like, ‘That looks good.’ And then when they put their helmets on, it looked great coming out of the back of their helmets,” said Dallas Cowboys receiver Jesse Holley, whose dreadlocks now reach down to the middle of his back.
“It makes me feel like I’m running fast,” Holley added. “When I have my hair out, I feel like a lion. It puts you in that wild, warrior-type mentality.”...
Re: Am I being a racist when...
I remember when a Bill trying to tackle Ricky Williams pulled out one of his dreads. It might have been during the snow game where the Bills came back and won. Maybe the Historian will let me know. Anyway, I seem to remember maybe getting a personal foul penalty on the play?
I believe it is old white man hate. I certainly don't like it either, nor do I like the wearing pants around the upper thighs. Just stupid trends that will someday go away to be replaced by another stupid trend.
I wondered though, do the Bills lead the league in guys with long hair?

I do like the fact that long hair is now considered "part of the uniform" and they can be tackled by it.
Re: Am I being a racist when...
honestly it doesnt bother me at all, i kinda like it. but i agree with the sentiment that its totally fair game to be hauled down by the hair. if it was me i wouldnt wear it outside the helmet/jersey for just that reason, id tuck it in super tight like they do the uniform to prevent it from being tugged on. but as a purely visual display i think its cool
Re: Am I being a racist when...
You sound like a redneck, not a racist.
I grow my hair extra long just to give people like you something to complain about.
And I am a old white guy.
And I bet your bald.
Why not worry about something you can do to improve your life?

I thought it was awesome when Bradham tackled him by the hair. If you wanna have long hair, that's fine, but don't whine when someone tackles you by it.

They need to put Astroglide in their dreads to prevent it...

Not racist, it's truly baffling...if your hair was the consistency of a brillo pad why would you want to grow that **** out?

I do too. I'm wondering if that comment and awareness will see more players tackling by the hair. Could get interesting.

lol
Re: Am I being a racist when...
Is it really hair grown out, or just extensions?
Anyhow, I'm with Shiva...I think it looks silly, and has to be hotter than hell.
Re: Am I being a racist when...
I don't have a problem with the appearance, but there is a reason why every military force in the history of ever has required short hair: it's one less thing for your opponent to grab when fighting.
If that dude didn't have long hair, Bradham doesn't make that tackle. It gives the opponent one more method to make the tackle. This time it worked in our favor. Next time, the guy getting dragged down by the dreads could be Watkins or Gilmore on the INT (not holding my breath but he could possibly maybe make a play on the ball eventually).
I don't like giving the opponents an advantage. But this is one of the few times where the NFL got the rule right: you can wear your hair long if you want but you can't cry if an opponent rips it out of your head.
Re: Am I being a racist when...
What does hair length have to do with racism???

I remember that the very next game Ricky had cut it really short.
Re: Am I being a racist when...
My son plays high school football and his coaches tell him if the hair is outside the helmet it's fair game. We were actually talking about it during the game when it happened.
Re: Am I being a racist when...
Most of that is fake extensions or braided hair rather than dreads.
Dreads are different. More scruffy looking.
If you watched the CFL Montreal at Hamilton game on Sunday there was a white LB on Montreal who had real dreads. I guess they don't test for pot smoking in the CFL.
