Victor O has improved immensely the last several weeks after looking like a big D liability and PP player only. Someone got into his head. Love Krebs. He always hustles and dropped the gloves to fight when the game was tied, waking up the crowd and the team.
Now comes a 4 game road trip.
I forgot it was an early game so I only caught the 3rd period. The team looked great, although it fit look like the Ducks gave up after the 6th goal.
It was on NHLN so I was stuck with with their announcers. They were boring as hell but they said Olaffson has 22 goals on the season and 17 were even strength, so he’s definitely shedding that “PP specialist” label.
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
6 goals with the Goathead again. Uncanny.

In other games pertinent to the Sabres striving for the play-offs. Yesterday:
Islanders lost again.
Panthers won.
Red Wings lost.

Those back-to-back losses to the Penguins making the difference.

Don’t know if any of you read Die By the Blade but it’s likely going away.

THE question is will Kevyn Adams make any moves to strengthen the team in the short term for a play-off run? We keep hearing him say he is building a youth culture for the long run. That's all well and good until those guys start leaving for elsewhere too.

KA doesn't need to swing for the fences. He's kinda got his hands tied in the goaltending department. He has three goalies, one who plays less often than a football team, another that's struggling mightily, and another that seems to be developing, but after his lackluster pro career since leaving juniors, I'm really timid to say "this is our guy!"
The best option would be to see if Anderson would accept a trade to a contender. That would free up a spot, and have Comrie and UPL ride the hot hand. The other option would be to make a move for a vet Dman, but not like a top pairing guy. Someone cheap like Justin Braun from Philly.
And finally, if you do decide to swing for the fences with a big trade, use Mittlestadt or Olafsson as a piece, as their value may never be higher.
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
Anderson to get the start tonight in Dallas. HUGE GAME.
This is what we've been hungry for. Meaningful hockey later in the season.. whens the last time we have had that? Eichels second season maybe?
Enjoy

Help me Obi-one, you’re my only hope.
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
Good way to start the trip. Power with the winner in OT.
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
I was happy with one point. Dallas is a very good team.
So when they got the OT winner, I was thrilled. But my mind immediately went to "ok, when does KA make moves to address the shortcomings of this team?"
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
Anderson stole that one. It should have been 4-1 in the 1st. The team was sloppy and gave up too many scoring chances.
Re: 2022-2023 Sabres Thread
If you are going to beat central teams, please do it in regulation. Thanks.

I hate the manufactured point in overtime. This time, it doesn't matter for the Sabres because it was against a Western team but those extra points can add up, and it would frustrate me if I was a fan of another team in the Stars' division.
I've been saying this for years and I know I'm not the only one:
It should be 3 points for regulation win, 0 points for regulation loss. 2 points for OT/Shootout win, 1 point for OT/Shootout loss. Every game should be worth 3.

Just eliminate points altogether and go by win percentage.
Or "points percentage" not actual points (though it would add up the same at the end)
