    The Mattias Samuelsson difference

Mattias Samuelsson has developed into a crucial peg in the Sabres success.

While Owen Power is still finding his way on the Josh Allen plan (draft him & toss him in immediately), Samuelsson has added the defensive stability the Sabres need with their, at times, shaky goaltending and young roster. The Sabres recognized his effort back in October by signing him to a 7-year extension. Gotta be happy to have him on the roster. Gotta hope Owen Power turns into something similar.

You can't argue with those #'s. He's easy to overlook since he doesn't contribute much offensively but opponents don't score when he's on the ice.

I agree with everything except in puzzled about the Owen Power comparison.

Power is going to be the polar opposite of Sammy, at least as a played. Unless you mean his intangibles that he brings to the lockerroom

Comparing only on-ice maturity between the two defensemen. And Power is going to be more a hybrid of Samuelsson and Dahlin hopefully. Power will certainly become his own player, but he's still timid at times. You can see him finding his game if you watch him closely. As expected. Another year or two and he'll be great.

Totally agree. It's exciting for sure. Don't forget Samuelsson was a captain at WMU
