When Will The NFL Overhaul The Officiating Crews ?
It's not just the Bills games, it's every game I view. Calls/non-calls that are costing teams games.
None of them should be over 40. They cannot move fast enough to keep up with the players or get out of the way. All should be athletic, full time and go through proper training.
Many cannot see and throw flags based on what they think they saw or fail to throw one on obvious calls.
I was watching this one back judge trying to keep up with a WR going long for a TD. He waddled 25 yards and just stopped, as if he was going to die. How's he going to see anything up close ?
The NFL is a multi-billion dollar industry and hires some part time grandfather to make key calls in games. Replay can only correct so much.
Unacceptable.

Agree. Up to the owners to get done.
Re: When Will The NFL Overhaul The Officiating Crews ?
They absolutely should move to a FT set of crews.

And the crews should be completely independent of the NFL. I would feel way more comfortable if the officiating is outsourced, because they would have no stock in who wins games.

I was watching the Chiefs Chargers game and the linesman spotted the ball from 10 yards behind the play. How do you get an accurate spot like that?

They don't have to be independent. I'm not buying into the conspiracy theory that officials are calling the game to favor certain teams.

If they can afford to pay the commish $44mil/yr, they can afford full-time referees.

I'm with train.
I'd like to see younger people out there.

Especially well endowed women.
Re: When Will The NFL Overhaul The Officiating Crews ?
why isn't t here a ref viewing from the press box? sometimes you can see things like the fans from above the action. if the league is willing to experiment with PAT's, then at least try some other ref configurations.
every week there are a handful of games that are poorly called.
the seattle/rams game was ridiculous that they didn't review the last play where the rams fumbled and it looked like seattle recovered.

I agree. I was at the Bears-Phish game yesterday and one of the back judges was lumbering all over, could barely run 3 steps as if he had bad knees, and looked like he was going to throw up just bending over to pick up a flag on the ground. How could this guy even see enough to make any decisions on what he thought he saw or not, if he simply couldn't keep up with the action?

Agreed. I think it is more likely an official placed a bet and makes a few calls here and there to help it.

On a side note.... I officiate and I run like a deer. They are welcome to come calling.
