do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
according to generalfanager
it's uncertain that he has shaken the cobwebs out of his head from the concussion he took from Ovechkin though he says he feels great, also it will free up more money to throw at Stamkos if he decides to test free agency
Re: can Sabres buy out Ennis?
They don't need cap space next year.

Buy him out or trade him.
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
He's a trade piece of there's a larger deal to be had for someone like Drouin.
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
Geez if you only were fixated on Drouin. There are other possibilities.

sure why not? lets cut away more offense when we are 20 mil under the cap.

Sabres are thin on the wings. Buying him out would be stupid
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
Why would we want a 20g/25a player gone at this point given all the cap space we have?
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
I think his trade value is very low right now. I'd like to see him have a nice bounce back season at full health before making any long term decisions.

That's being kind.
3 of 6 full seasons he's played 48 games or less.
He's scored 20 or 21 goals three times, the aforementioned full seasons.
He's topped 25 assists (26 and 29) twice.
He's a career minus player, 0 once and minus the last five, with only one plus season.
As far as 'the eye test', he's too much of a waterbug and turns the puck over too much for my liking...getting to Afinigenov level.
Shop him as part of a deal for an upgrade, and let a younger player get the ice time with potential for better production.

One of those seasons you counted was only 48 games long (2012-13). And he played in all the games but one that season. I hardly consider that a "full" season. (You must be using Hillary math) So let's not mislead too much here. Until the concussion this year, he's only had one year that injuries were an issue.
The last two seasons the entire team was minus, so even that is kinda misleading and being partially truthful about him (In that it's not in perspective).
His trade value is next to nothing right now because of the concussion. Might as well bring him back and see what he can do now that he's not a kid and can play with actual NHL players like O'Reilly and Kane. As it was, he was one of the teams top scorers in the "tank" years. Granted that's faint praise, but it's not like he was playing with regular NHL talent.
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
Ennis isn't worth that kind of money and if we play our cards right, we might get a few high priced FA.

Why, because he had an injury? He has no value and there is no guarantee we sign someone major. Keep him

That's fair, I had forgotten about the short season.

"For someone like Drouin"
idiot.
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
I think if ennis was part of a deal, then I wouldn't mind. if it is just to part ways, I wouldn't do it. Moulson is really the odd man out. ennis out performed him, makes less and played like 25% of the season. moulson, you can save money and not worry about missing any upside. he's mostly done. maybe he can resurge on a team like Chicago, but they don't have cap space for him. their superstars are making other better.
Re: do the Sabres buy out Ennis?
Does trading him shift his burden completely off the Sabres books ?
